VS selling a couple of Dreamliners

So, it looks like VS are selling a couple of the Dreamliners to free up some cash...

That's true, although this is a sale and leaseback. The aircraft will still be in the VS fleet, they'll just be owned by a leasing company. easyJet did a similar thing earlier in the year, I think it's quite a useful way to generate some cash.

G-VDIA & G-VNYL are the 2 789’s in question.

This does mean though that VS don’t own any of their A/C now.

BA also did this with a package of aircraft.

Mortgaged 48 aircraft for $750 million

easyJet have also done something similar. Seems to be a tactic with some airlines to raise cash, especially during this pandemic where cash coming in is below typical levels.

I would be a bit concerned if there's a point in the future where cash needs to be raised again, but hopefully it won't come to that.
