There is no information on yet on whether LIB or NVR are leased. But it doesn’t look like they will be delivered until at least 2022.

4 of the a339s are supposed to be in leisure configuration as well to cover for the the -200s being retired.

Anyone know why G-VLUX has been out of service so much lately and is it true that she will be getting Richard Branson’s mum on her like G-VFAB?

I HOPE she gets that special livery or they rename an upcoming A350 delivery and transfer the original name to an A339 and i hope one of the leisure fleet get 'The Falcon' livery!

G-VLIB could get renamed because the name is completely random and has no significance to the registration.

They could also do G-VRNB because RNB is Richard Branson’s initials.

Given costs, I cannot see any livery amendments. As I've commented they'd change a registration and name of a future aircraft if anything. Number one priority at the moment is cash.

I think lib = liberty. Lady Emmeline I think refers to Emmeline Pankhurst, the suffragette who helped to secure women the right to vote. Hence liberty.

She was also born in Manchester, where the aircraft (if in leisure config) will be spending plenty of time, so a local link.

Just my take on what they were going for with G-VLIB and could be wrong.

Agreed. I also suspect any repaints/reliveries for commercial purposes such as the Falcon on G-VLIP will be paid for by somebody else. I could be totally wrong, but I suspect Disney contributed towards the cost of applying the Falcon livery along with maybe Virgin Holidays. Similarly when it carried stickers years ago advertising the new Harry Potter part of Universal Islands of Adventure, surely Universal/VH/Warner Bros contributed something given their logos also featured?

In the case of the Falcon livery, it coincided with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando and was also quickly followed by the release of the last Star Wars film. The time to create another Falcon has passed for now I think.

This is just a curious remark but could the A350-1000 handle 550 seats like the 777-300ER with the addition of over wing exit doors?

It was built to accommodate up to 440 passengers in a one-class layout, however it would seem the EASA have approved it for up to 480 seats in a ten-abreast one class layout if all exits are modified and equipped with dual lane evacuation slides: -

I don't expect many takers for that option except for certain Asian airlines who use densely configured widebodies on domestic/short-haul routes. I can't imagine a 480-seat A350-1000 to be a comfortable experience for long-haul flights, though Corsair used to have 497 seats on the lower deck of their 747's.

I totally agree, you just have to look at Cebu Pacific and their A330s, those planes are configured with a 436 seat all economy plane in a 3-3-3 configuration! They are gonna recieve A330neos which will have 460 seats! even with the 440 exit limit
