Are the 789s scheduled to be refitted any time soon due to their now outdated cabins?
VS plans to start refitting the 787 around 2023 when the first G-VNEW reaches about 8 years old and to introduce the new cabin alongside the introduction of the A339 which will most certainly have new cabins.

Will any of them be refitted in to a leisure configuration?
I think Virgin intend only to use A350s and A330s on leisure routes

I thought virgin would want to keep the 339s at Heathrow for a bit.
Virgin always give the left overs to the leisure routes from London, MAN, GLA and BFS and the 789s will soon be the oldest aircrafts in the fleet.
I do agree with you on that front, we could see Virgin station some 787s at MAN if they launch routes that are quite a distance away

There has been rumours of big expansions at Manchester with introductions of new routes to places such as Delhi, Mumbai, Havana, Montego Bay, Miami and eventually Tel Aviv.
They won’t get the 35K cabin but may get the 339 cabin. Question will be over J capacity given demand post covid. That demand piece and yields will determine the cabin. I do expect they’ll be desperate to swap out the Prem seats as they’re really showing their age and quite bad wear and tear is showing.

Do you think upper class will be reduced to make space for more eco/prem seats?
I would be doubtful if there would be less J, I think it's likely that there will be an increase in W, but that might come at sacrifice of some of Y.
I think the trend is to see people want to trade up to give themselves space.
That being said, I think any investment on refit may be deferred anyway.
