Delay lifting landing gear

On VS108 (NAS-LHR) on Thursday, Captain announced pre take off that there would be some noise during the climb as they were leaving the gear down for a while.

Not warm and short taxi.

Indeed it was a while.

Any ideas why?

Hiya, assuming it was a 787, I think there's either a brake cooling issue that sometimes requires this (usually if there's been a quick turnaround) or an issue which causes a brake not to engage on a wheel, so it's still spinning after takeoff, so they wait for it to slow down before stowing the gear. There's probably other reasons too.

I've seen it a few times on aviation live stream channels.
