Due to DL aircraft / Flight Schedule changes the seats we have assigned on our DL flight (ATL- MEM) on the VS website (2C, 2D) now differ from those showing on the DL website (1A, 1B) . Which ones are likely to be correct please?. The cabin is full so I can't test moving seats.

Also is it still the case that I need to exchange the VS boarding passes for DL boarding passes at ATL or has the technology finally synchronised?

I would say the DL booking is likely to be the correct one.

I've come across issues with seat selection after DL make schedule changes before as well. I've had it where after a schedule change, the DL seat maps go read-only for some reason even if other seats are available. I've changed seats using DL iMessage chat option but sometimes the agents also only see the seat maps as read-only as well. It does usual straighten itself out after a few days.
