VS "free" points for defunctive IFE

On our inbound VS74 last month, the IFE was totally inactive for the entire flight. Compensation letters issued at the bottom of the remote stand steps on arrival at MAN T2.

So why do you have to send in a manual claim with a photo / scan of the compensation letter to get your 10K points credit [if in Upper, as we were, with FC membership tagged on our bookings]? Come on Virgin - you know exactly who we were, in exactly which seats and you already knew our flying club numbers. The points claim should be automatic, but no.

Of course its not automatic... the amount of money they save by not doing it automatically will be huge - because so many people won't be bothered claiming.

(I don't disagree though).

Plus not every pax will be a FC member (some won’t having anything and others will have other airline FF account numbers on their booking), therefore, they should also be offering something like a future travel voucher etc as an alternative.

It’s never going to be automatic for exactly the same reason why UK261 is not automatic….simply because they don’t have to.

our 10k points was automatic when on a UC flight from LHR to BOS flight at the end of May. My table wouldn't raise so hubby and I had to take turns eating when knife and fork was needed. Wasn't a big deal for us, we didn't make a fuss but miles were added on account whilst we were away.

We had this issue back in 2016 and the offer in UC was 10k back then. Think we've been through at least 2 points devauations since then so technically the compensation has lowered too.
