Downgrading a points upgrade

Hi there, sorry if this is already been posted but I’ve never actually had to do this before or even considered it so basically we upgraded our flight with points to Miami because we were booked on a A330 Neo and we were going to buy the retreat suites, but the aircraft has been swapped since 787–9 Will we get a refund for the taxes and charges and all get our points back if we downgrade back to get our miles back as I only really wanted to do it for the retreat? I am happy to stay in the old class seat. I quite like it actually but I would rather keep my points and pay to upgrade on the day or something if that’s available rather than use the points on this.

Thanks in advance

Yes, providing there’s availability in PE. They may actually end up cancelling the UC and then rebooking PE from scratch. It’ll have the £30 (?) fee whichever way they do it.

Great thank you. I’ll probably end up keeping it after speaking to the wife last night, but the option is nice to have.
