Has anybody had any luck getting compensation for a delayed flight?
My flight from Richmond to Boston was delayed, meaning I would miss my connecting flight to London. was given two options, staying in Richmond and flying the next day, or traveling on the delayed flight to Boston and then catching the flight the following evening. I decided better to be in Boston than risk another connection. was told that Delta doesn't cover hotel costs so ended up paying 400 dollars for hotel and meals and got home a day late.
Has anyone managed to get compensation for this? if so how? The delta site isn't very clear on this.

Was the LHR flight on VS? Was it all one ticket?
If it was all on DL, then you don't get any of the UK261 benefits.
Sorry! The US has very poor consumer protection, especially for flights.

The LHR outbound was virgin,
the Bos to LHR was meant to be Virgin but go changed by Delta to a delta flight.

Outbound carrier is meaningless. You were on a non-EU aircraft departing outside the EU; therefore, no compensation is due.
As for reimbursement, what was the reason for the delay? If it was weather or ATC, they won't budge. If the delay was within their control, fill out the feedback form at
https://www.delta.com/us/en/need-help/o ... laintsForm and report back on how you got on.

Thats the point, I should have been on a UK aircraft but was moved to a USA based one because of the delay, have put the claim in and will see what they say.

If it was a delta delay and they’ve moved you onto another flight because you missed the virgin flight, then no compensation is due. It’s a non eu/uk aircraft operating a domestic American flight so, no UK261 compensation is due. They’ve reprotected you onto an alternative flight, as far as Delta are concerned, that’s it. You’ll probably be offered some skymiles.
