Tier Points Question

Hello

Currently a Red member and have 100 tier points. According to the FC website they expire on 31st Dec 2024.

Looking to get to Silver and I have a flight in UC in early December ( ht was upgraded from PE using points) so know that will get me an extra 100 points for that return trip.

Also looking at booking our hotel through Virgin which would be another 200 tier points in December.

So I should earn enough points to get Silver before the end of the year. But would that mean I then have 12 months to earn enough to retain silver again (so would be silver for a year). Or would my points expire in December so go back to zero again and rerun to red in Jan as that would be really annoying.

I think the FC website is showing 12 months or so on from when you earned your 1st tier points.

Give you're red now, you need to earn 400 tier points in any upgrade cycle, which is essentially the last 12 month rolling window.

The date you achieve 400 tier points, you become silver. This starts a 1 year fixed membership period; i.e. you will be silver for a year and have that year to earn another 400 tier points to retain it.

Example: you earn your 400th tier point on Nov 12th 2024. You become silver and will retain silver until 30th Nov 2025. You also have until 30th Nov 2025 to earn another 400 tier points to get silver again until 30th Nov 2026.

There's a bit more nuance to as the dates aren't always exact given how long it takes for this stuff to flow through VS' systems. But that is the general gist of it.

Thanks Matt

That confirmed my thinking so I should get back to silver this year and if all goes to plan earn enough next year to retain silver.

Thanks
