MCO upper check in

I’m flying out of MCO in a few days in Upper. How early can you check in? It’s a while since I’ve flown from there, do they still have that small separate check in area? Also, do you get any fast track security?
Thanks,
Steve

Firstly, yes, they still have the small Upper Class check-in area (about 3 desks) opposite the main Economy & Premium check-in area. How early can you check-in? I guess all the check-in desks open 3hrs before the first Virgin flight of the day, so anytime after that you should be able to check in for any Virgin flight that day.
Fast-track security is TSA Pre-Check. You normally only get this via membership of TSA-Pre or Global Entry (which includes TSA-Pre). I have Global Entry so get it automatically on my boarding pass. I have heard of cases where passengers with neither membership get TSA PRECHK on their boarding passes when in Upper Class, but it seems very random.
If you do get TSA PRECHK at MCO, there are about 4 queue lines for it. Do not use the left hand two (nearest to the CLEAR kiosks) as the queue moves slower due to passengers from CLEAR being put in at the front of the line to queue-jump.

There were 3 separate check-in areas for Economy, Premium, and Upper when I was there this week, the Premium and Upper check-in areas were on the kerb / entrance side of the building, opposite the main Economy check-in. There are also a few machines you can use if you don’t have any bags to check.
There were Virgin Atlantic signs saying check-in opens at 2pm, so about 3.5 hrs ahead of the VS92 at 5.25pm that I flew on.
I concur with Kraken, avoid the left two lanes of Precheck.. I made this mistake and found out the hard way! Allow plenty of time anyway, as all of the lanes are slow, and sometimes they just stop altogether for 5 minutes as the cramped scanner area behind them gets clogged up.
