Hi,

A couple of questions on reward seats. Looking to book for August 2026 UC from EDI to MCO. I have a reward voucher available so it is easy to understand pay for a reward then a full price for my wife.
We will be traveling with family two adults and two teenagers once again one reward seat and three full fares.
My questions are.
1. How many reward UC seats are available on each flight.
2. Can I do a reward seat booking and full fare on the same booking as having done a dummy booking cannot see how this is possible.
3. Ultimately what I would like to achieve is one adult on reward plus one adult and two teenagers on normal fare. One adult on reward plus one adult normal fare.

Hi Iain.

After the changes at the end of last year, every seat is now a “reward” seat. The problem being, especially on the EdInburgh - Orlando route, they are usually many many hundreds of thousands of miles unless you are extremely lucky.

A full fare upper seat from Edi - Mco is also likely to be many many thousands of pounds in august next year.

Unless anything changes for next year, be prepared for your miles account and your bank account to be emptied if you’re looking to fly 4 adults from Edinburgh in upper even using a voucher. As an example in May next year 1 reward seat in upper is around 300,000 miles plus taxes.

I would be prepared to check Manchester and Heathrow fares which given the extra flights, are more likely to be cheaper, both miles and money.

I keep praying for more flights from Edinburgh being only 40 mins from the airport but for the last couple of years, it has remained at 2 a week over the peak months.

I struggle to keep up with how the vouchers now work, but hopefully someone will be along to help with that.

I have banked on 35000 miles per reward seat and approx £1100 in taxes for the reward. Then a total of £12 k for the one reward and three normal fares.
The only other option is two premium seats on reward plus two normal fares then pay for the four premium to UC upgrade.

Did think of the Heathrow route , getting to and from EDI to Heathrow plus hotel overnight stay can be problematic.

Agree, we’ve had our fare share of issues even on mid day flights down the day before. From IT issues, to cancelled flights etc etc and to use your upper baggage entitlements, you’ve really got to go club Europe with BA just in case your case happens to be 23.6kgs but the savings on miles compared to Edi direct can be phenomenal unless your extremely lucky and can bag a reasonably priced flight.

I did managed to find a deal upper out and premium back which would have been doable given the short journey after landing home but even that was around 135,000 miles. Changed days from 100,000 miles for upper both ways in previous years.

I have seen upper both ways from Edi upwards of half a million miles per seat. How does that work for anyone.
