Delta pricing and Virgin points question!
We were hoping to book our connection from ATL through to MSY with Virgin points and the number of points looked really reasonable compared to the cash price. I have however just realised that for points flights, only the very late night flights are showing up which I am guessing means that they haven't released the earlier flights to be booked with Virgin points.
My questions therefore are (i) do they ever released more flights for Virgin points bookings at a later date or should I assume that this is it?
and (ii) currently for our dates (we are approx 11 months out) all dates and all flights have the same $ price. I'm not familiar with how Delta's pricing model works, but having scrolled back a bit on their calendar the prices for the last few months are all the same or higher - and when you get as far back as Jan/Feb there are discounted seats (approx half price) but not on the flight that we would want (it's 6.15pm so assuming peak time?)
I'm just trying to work out if there is any benefit in booking early or if it is likely that a mid-August peak time flight would come down in price? There are 5 of us flying so the savings would be fairly significant if prices do fall.
Many thanks
