A quick hello for the SEA Delta One lounge

My final leg home from Honolulu.

Came into SEA this morning from HNL on Delta. Booked a day room at a local Hilton hotel to grab a couple of hours sleep and a shower. DL wouldn’t short-check my bag to just SEA as I suspected; which is why I took a second carry-on shoe bag with a change of clothes.

Those newest DL First Class seats on the A321’s are not great especially on night flights. No logic to DL aircraft allocation as my outbound daytime LAX>HNL flight was one of the older B767’s but had a full lie-flat Delta One seat yet coming back to SEA on an overnight flight and the use A321’s. The WiFi was atrocious as well on today’s A321 flight. All the reviews I read mentioned the older B767’s having poor WiFi but I found that worked really well!

I see VS have updated the tier point earning page. It now makes much more sense, however, as I’m flying on a AF marketed I fare, I only earn 100 TP’s on each of my 4 flight legs.

Enjoy the trip and flight! How is the D1 Lounge at SEA? Will be flying SEA-LHR in May with Delta. I’ve read the showers are in the Delta Sky Club lounge. I’ve been to BOS & JFK lounges so far with favourite being JFK.

The lounge was OK. As it’s located across from gate A11, it’s a long way from the S gates VS use. A good 10-20min walk including the plane train.

It feels way too formal for me. It feels more like a restaurant rather than an airport lounge.

One thing that I anticipated before I travelled was that even with me having a 10hr layover at SEA, DL wouldn’t short-check my bag to just SEA with my flights all being on one ticket.

I’d booked a day room at a nearby Hilton. With my gold HH status (thanks to AmEx) I still got the daily $15-$18 food/drink credit. Hilton seem to be the only hotel brand that still let you book directly a day room by selecting the same check-out date as your check-in date. I know there are other 3rd party day rate providers now but I’ve not read good things about them.

I took an extra shoe bag as carry-on with a change of clothes etc. My luggage made it to LHR safely though.

The low loads on my VS106 flight home don’t bode well as I’ve heard rumours that’s the next VS route to get culled. J wasn’t far off full though it sounded like the other Retreat sweet was filled with a staffer. Economy and Premium loads were very very low.

My retreat suite (which I payed for) 1G door was also broken on G-VEII as it had to be tapped up to keep it closed :-O
