Another VS offer appeared on my AmEx app.

Spend £800 with VS and get £100 back, online only expires 27/11/25.

I've saved this to a card, the thing is I need to use a voucher on my booking, so I think I'll struggle to use it as it's for online bookings only (can't see that reward flights are excluded)

Just wondering, if I was to book online could I then call up and ask for them to apply my credit cards voucher? As this wouldn't affect the cost of the taxes it would just be a case of refunding 50% of the miles used (upto 75k)

That *should* work.. When I used mine the other week on a full revenue fair, the credit showed up on my AmEx account 24 hours after the payment fully cleared and showed on my statement as 'VAA INTERNET (GBP) - Virgin Atlantic'

All sorted.

Called up to apply the voucher to earlier booking last night - a few minutes on the phone - booking was for a total of 150000 so got that halves

Checked Amex this morning, and the £100 has been deducted from the "taxes", so that will help reduce the impact of Donald introducing a foreigners' tax on visitors to National Parks. (Hoping to visit Yosemite and Sequoia)... in one hand and out the other :D

Glad to hear it worked.

I do like the way AmEx always fully itemise flight booking transactions on statements including all the fare info. I wish other credit cards did the same thing.

Sorry, I don’t want to hikjack the thread but wanted to ask a quick question on this. So you booked the flight and reserved the seats, then the day after rang them to apply the voucher? That seems a good way to lock in the price with dynamic pricing if so! And will be using this system going forwards

You have always been able to book first then apply a voucher later. It doesn't have to be done at the same time.

It doesn't matter which channel you use to book though it does need to be booked direct with VS and not via a travel agent or flight consolidator.

The only exception are VS Holidays bookings that include VS flights which can be upgraded using VS vouchers.

Great to know, thank you! I didn’t know this, and had seats in my basket once, then rang and was told they were now a higher price (pre dynamic pricing). I told him I had some cheaper in my basket on my laptop and the response was “there’s nothing we can do”. But with dynamic pricing, this seems the best way to go! Thanks for the heads up guys

Just a note of caution,

I was looking to book return uc seats to Miami with a voucher, wasn’t aware you could book and have it added later.
Did a dummy booking to check points cost, showed 122,000 + fees etc.
Phoned to book with the voucher within 5 minutes of dummy booking and the points cost had dropped to 100,000.
I guess I was just lucky.
