If i was to book a reward flight and had to cancel, I believe its around a £75 fee. What do you get back for that ?

Just the miles or the full money (taxes) as well ? Just looking for the latest results as I'm sure its changed recently.

You can cancel your reward seat booking for a fee per person:
£70 for changes to flights originating in the UK
$100 or local currency equivalent for flights originating outside the UK

For cancellations made outside 24 hours of travel, you’ll receive a full refund of points, taxes and fees

For cancellations made within 24 hours of travel, we will not be able to refund points or fees, but some taxes will be refunded.

Not sure though if that £70 fee is for cancelations as well as changes; as it's not very clear?

Thanks James for quick reply - trying to help a buddy out whos son has lost his passport and they are supposed to be flying out next week - there are reward seats kinda available a few days after and am advising him to book it if the new passport is delayed in coming for the potential loss of only £70.

It would also give them another few extra days to sort out the new esta required.

Full reward booking starting from UK/Europe is £70 pl cancellation, starting from US is 100$ per person.
Changing is the same £70/$100.
I can only advise that it’s best to change the booking as reward seat prices can change at any moment.
And to book emergency passport appt if available to get passport asap

Emergency passport appt was last week and advised around 8 working days which takes it to Saturday or potentially Monday . With the new esta rules I believe you have to factor in an extra 24 hours before check in even if instantly approved so too close to 10.20 monday departure as Saturday mail not to good here especially around Christmas time. I’m advising booking a reward seat for the Thursday as even the Wednesday departure might be too tight.

If it happens to come on the Friday or Saturday they just take the £70 hit and cancel the reward flight after the esta has been approved and all travel together. Otherwise , their son misses a few days

Feel good update, the passport actually arrived on Friday afternoon, ESTA applied for and approved in a few hours.

Reward flight was cancelled this morning and miles already back in their account but money less £70 and another £30 admin fee will take upto 14 days.

So all well in the end.
