Woke up to find my flight to sfo cancelled, apparently a lax and jfk also down, any idea what’s going on? On way to airport to try and resolve….

On the other side of the Atlantic, Virgin Atlantic is also experiencing severe disruptions today. The airline has canceled 5 flights and delayed 6 others, primarily affecting services between London and major US cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Sorry to hear about your cancelations. The quickest way to get rebooked is to use the app. That should automatically give you re-booking options.

Time is always of the essence when it comes to flight disruption rebooking as re-booking availability doesn't tend to last long especially if several flights are disrupted.

I suspect weather is not the main reason for these cancelations as BA don't look to be cancelling any similar routes today.

If VS do try and use weather as the excuse then unfortunately UK261 regulations wont apply if your new scheduled arrival time is delayed, however, you are still entitled to duty of care so keep any receipts during the delay and don't take no for an answer when it comes to claiming expenses back as VS will likely try it on and push back when it comes to making a claim.

I had to take VS to ADR last month to get my delay expenses back

Ended up flying via seattle. Virgin were pretty helpful, but would be nice to be told the actual reason for cancellation, rather than just ‘operational reasons’… we were meant to be on queen bee.

More VS cancellations this week. VS103 to ATL cancelled yesterday, VS129 to TPA cancelled today, VS19 to SFO canceled tomorrow

Anyone know what going on at the minute?

I wonder if the loads are light and given fuel costs they're deciding to axe the flights as they're non cash positive...

They are down 2 A35Ks (DOT and ELJ) and 2 B789s (CRU and MAP) at the moment so that could explain all the cancellations. DOT appears to be having issues given that it only returned from maintenance recently and went back out of service again after 7 rotations and had to do a test flight yesterday.

Guess what? Now my return flight from sfo on Friday has been cancelled. Not only that but they somehow booked my kids and husband on an indirect flight four days later than the direct BA flight they rebooked me on (as I’m gold). Hopefully now flying back via Seattle on Friday but this whole thing has been an epic fail. Virgin staff mostly great and helpful, but their systems and policies are terrible.

VS109 got cancelled on the 4th anyone know why

Just had my LAX return flight cancelled , only direct flight we were offered was a day earlier. We took it as needed to be back and medical issues prevented an in-direct flight.
Trying to recover pre paid hotel/car hire and compensation but Virgin point blank refusing anything.
Anyone got any experience of this or pointers. Would be much appreciated.

A trip of a lifetime for us was cut short and astounded at Virgin's response. Thanks

Virgin won't entertain paying for this. Travel insurance is the only way to go.
