Hi,

Just a quick question. Do VS supply noise reduction headphones to PAX in UC?

If yes, then are they any good? Wasn't sure whether to rush out and buy myself a pair before my next flight...

Many thanks

Marc...

Hi autopilot,

Yes they do supply noise cancelling headsets in UC.

They are ok ( not as good as the £200+ Bose headsets) but good nethertheless.

Thanks TBS

Yes I have been looking at the Bose headphones but at around £250 wasn't really sure that I could justify the cost.

Thanks again for the advice, I'll give the VS ones a try!

They didn't cancel out the sound of the guy in the seat behind me who had a loud penetrating voice and could bore for England (and obviously thought it was the World Championships). Even with earplugs, the headset and soothing music I could still hear his every word. [:(]

I gave up and went to the bar! :):D

Bought a pair of the Virgin Pulse ones in NY this week. Seemed to do a reasonable job, but I've never experienced the Bose ones to do a comparison with!

I've tried the Virgin ones, cheap Aiwa ones, the Sony ones and Bose QC (ver 1). The Bose are an awful lot better than any of the others - in terms of comfort to wear, and also noise cancelling performance. Yup, they're expensive, but they are also very good.

As everyone has said Bose are excellent QC2 are the best, but at least the UC ones are noise cancelling unlike the ones supplied in BA First. On a recent flight I did notice about 10 out of 14 First pax put on a set of Bose.

Do Virgin give out the noise cancelling editions on all UC flights? I'm sure that earlier in the year when flying to MCO that they were not noise cancelling. Certainly not the same headphones that I'd had on a JFK flight a couple of weeks prior?

I believe there is more than one type of Noise Reducing headphone in service. As for the Bose ones, I bought the QC2's and they are very good, comfortable to wear, even for prolonged periods (Lord of the Rings - Return of the King). They do not however completely cancel out the background noise but they do significantly reduce it.

they're no fun for sleeping in either! I find using earplugs AND QC2 gives the best results all round.

We were given BOSE kit flying business with AA to LA this year, quietest [|)] flight I've ever had.

I bought a pair of QC2 at the Bose factory shop in an outlet in Palm Springs last December - paid a good price too, 200 dollars :)

They've seen some good use in the past few months and I can highly recommend them - Bazz is on the mark saying that they do not completely cancel the noise but they do a fine job of reducing.

Cheers,

Sahajesh.
