Hi all,
I am flying to Miami with VA on the 11th December, returning 19th December, and would be grateful if someone could tell me the aircraft that have been allocated.

Hi InsertNameHere & welcome to V-Flyer

If you put the flight details in one of the web-based availability tools (like
this one), it'll show you the type of aircraft allocated (currently showing a 744 with UCS)
You can also use the
"what's my chance?" tool to see the planes that have been flying the route over the last 3 months.
HTH
Cheers
Michael

Hi InsertNameHere
Welcome to V-Flyer

It's currently showing as a LHR based 744 for VS5 and a LGW based UCS 744 for VS6.
Aside from the security concerns which some have, there really is no point giving out registrations more than a couple of days before the flight as they always change anyway.
Cheers
Alan

Thanks. Will the LGW 747s that have been fitted with the UCS be upgraded to V:Port? Why would they be using a LGW 747 on a LHR route; I thought that they only did this when the LHR 744s were being fitted with UCS, but shouldn't this have already happened by December?

The LGW UCS 744s will have an upgraded version of Nova with more channels (see other threads). As for why a LGW a/c is operating LHR flts I can't say for certain but maybe it's due to the MIA flts having particularly high loads around that time [?][?] The LHR 744s have all been re-fitted now, although 2 are being re-config'd (again) before they are transferred to LGW/MAN in May.
