Does DIY Check in make it any faster?

How much queueing does DIY checkin save, because you still have to drop baggage off at the bag drop once you get to the airport, and if lots of people had checked themselves in...

It's faster if you are travelling in econ as there is not usually much of a line at the DIY bag drop desk compared to the econ line (especially at LGW or LHR).

As for PE and Upper....there's not much in it. I used DIY check-in on my last Upper return flight but still went to the Upper Class desk to collect my boarding card and drop off my bag :D

Also it depends on if you a Silver or Gold member of FC..
I prefer a manual check in but would use DIY if I wasn't in Flying Club!;)

For Upper Class OLCI only really gives you some additional satisfaction that you have nabbed your seats. It seems to be no faster either at the bag drop or at the check in desk. And usually it is the latter since every time I have used OLCI the queue for UC has been shorter than the bag drop.

Just my $0.02.

Hi Blackcat - Can you nab the seats that are held back until check in? (I know you can't pre book the exit seats)
I'm in UC but I'm having problems getting 2 goods seats together but was advised that some are held back until the departure date.
Cheers

I would presume so -- this is how BA OLCI works.

e-CheckIn opens very soon at LHR - should be able to test it out and report back to you guys in the not too distant future.

Thanks,
