Sorry to bring this up yet again I was just reviewing a post I had with you regarding the seats on a Airbus going to Sydney.

and just wanted to make sure I asked for the correct ones at check in...


Is it rude to ask at check I want seat number 7 a etc? (just out of intrested)

Well it might be rude to say "I want seat..." , but in general I've found that if you ask something like "Is seat [whatever] available, and if so could I take it please?" then that's just fine

With regards to the seating on the 346, I am quite frequently flying them to HKG, as a matter of fact i am going in a month time (roll on xmas). From what I can see from your post that you will be in Economy, from previous experience I once sat in row 42H and then row 54H, I found that the second section (row 51 onwards) of economy has greater legroom to the seat in front. Now I always ask to seat in that section of the cabin. Also I found that seat D,E,F and G have even more legroom than A,C,H and K seats. You have to bear in mind that the IFE black box beneath seat A,D,G and K will take up alot of room under the seat in front of you and with such a long journey ahead of you, you might want to avoid those seats.

To guarantee (nothing is 100% guarantee) to have the seat you want then why dont you ring reservation/flying club or go on the internet to request the seat you want if its available.

thanks for that - you cannot reserve the bulk head seats before hand, but i have reserved 2 at the near back already

will ask to the fire exit and bulk ones first.

Yea you are right you cannot reserve bulk head and exit row seats.

Just out of intrested what happens to your seats when you get off at Hong Kong Do more people get on?? Are they taking booking for Hong Kong - Sydney

You can actually book tickets from HKG-SYD on the Virgin website so if that is the case then my seat should be taken up by passengers boarding at HKG to SYD.

I am expecting alot of passengers will be deplaning at HKG.
