Just received notification from Flying Company of the following changes to Flying Club....

From Jan 1 2005 D S and K will earn Flying Co miles PERMANENTLY. This WAS a special offer.

J and W will earn Flying Co miles at the SAME RATE as the passenger (a huge difference).

There are also changes to the clubhouse benefits but I'm is discussion trying to straighten out some apparent discrepancies currently.

OK all clarified on the Clubhouse side.

A very helpful Flying Co. representative has checked this all through for me and the T&Cs and the mailer are both incorrect in slightly different ways and will be modified.

Flying Co members can now purchase Lounge Access for 5,000 miles at LHW and LHR. This provides the a pass for the holder only. This compares to the old rates where 15,000 miles would get you 5 passes to the LGW ServisAir lounge. This seems to indicate that VS value the CH at 1.666667 times the ServisAir lounge. It will be interesting to see if this trickles through to VH bookings.

Nice of you to do the math but I would have put the premium much higher than 1.666667 having compared the two.

Yes but looking at the difference when booking VH they seem to think it's less than that!

Guys,
Forgive my ignorance but, what the hell are you on about? Flying CO? 5000 miles for CH access?

Help

Flying Co is the corporate loyalty scheme. Amongst the benefits available is that one can spend miles for CH access.

As I understand it, your company earns a much lower level of miles on the scheme that Flying Club miles. Have I got this right?

The other thing is that it is a requirement that there are 2 active travelers in your company. However there seems to be nothing in the enrolment that checks up on this. Indeed I enroled my company with just me as an active member. Does this mean that I will not earn Flying Co miles until I enroll a second member?

That is my belief. "To join Flying Co, you must have at least two active members of staff who travel on your behalf on business" and you've got to earn at least 20,000 miles a year or the account lapses.

The earning rate on the cheapest codes is low (regretfully all we normally use :() but higher codes earn the same as the passenger gets at the moment.
