Just in case you missed the article on the main VS site:

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/fr ... rcraft.jsp

I've just phoned to order mine, and the lovely lady in Duty Free Pre-Order tells me they are selling fast, and they have only been on sale since yesterday; so if you want one you might want to get your order in now!

Thanks,
Richard

London is our home town, so when we were asked to support the bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, of course, we said yes. We've since mounted a £1 million campaign for the city, which includes decals on our planes saying 'Back the Bid'.

Now, we've created replica B747-400 model aircraft, which are true collectors items - there are just 1,000 in existence.

The planes come in their own Virgin Atlantic branded tin with a unique certificate signed by Sir Richard Branson and Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London 2012.

We've got five of these unique aircraft models to give away, so click here to enter. If you're not lucky enough to win, you can still be the proud owner by purchasing one from us for just £18.99*.

Call 0870 190 3003 to order, but hurry as they are limited edition.

*Please add £2.50 for UK postage and packaging. There will be extra charge for delivery outside the UK. Only one model per person.

I would but they don't have the competition on the US site, and anyway I'm not a flying club member and I don't know how to dial UK numbers from America. Well, I'm screwed. Guess I'll just wait until it comes on ebay.

011 44 ....

so if the number was 01273 111111

011 44 1273 111111

note you add 011 to tell the phone you want international (adding a 9 if at work) 44 for the country code for the UK, then the UK number minus the leading zero.

My Limited Edition 744 arrived this morning. G-VBIG Tinker Belle, sporting the "Backing the Bid" and "London 2012 Candidate City" logos.

The chromed stand also has the "London 2012" "Backing the Bid" and "Premier Partner" logos.

A bit disappointing was the "Signed" certificate, yes it has Sir Richard's and Lord Coe's signatures but they are printed on the certificate not personally signed [:(]. They are numbered; mine is 11/1000.

Edited to remove livery comments as it is the same as my last Gemini model [:I]

I feel a bit better about not getting it now!

Wonder if the future Gemini releases will have the backing the bid logo on? I noticed with the last two that were released, they had slightly more detail on them, such as the A346 had an 'air-born' date on the nose and the 744 had 'love at first flight' printed on the rear.
