V-Flyer

For my return flight from EWR in September I've booked seats 64A + 64C, right at the back of the plane.

I figure that, as VS2 is a night flight, my partner and I will get more room and more quiet back there.

Can people please help me out by giving me the pro's and con's of the rear twin seats? Thanks much

I've done VS002 in 63A and the extra leg room to the side of the seat in front is useful, also you can use the space to the side to put bags which would otherwise have to live under the seat infront during the flight, although not during takeoff and landing.

Downside is that there can be a queue of people standing by you to use the WC but that didn't last too long,

Overall it was one of my more pleasing economy flights.

I had a few concerns about the proximity to the bathroom, but I'm hoping that it won't too huge a problem.

You say its your return flight - which is fine.

WC's are one issue

On inbound flights to US - other issue is that you're at the back of the queue for immigrations as all the other apssengers are in front.

I regularly choose the back of the plane when in economy on the LHR to LAX route and find it the best spot for avoiding the worst of the traffic. The toilet queues aren't nearly as much of a pain compared to the number of people going for their walks to prevent the dreaded DVT, and they tend to either stretch by their own seat or move towards the emergency exit areas.

As an aside, has anyone paid the 50 quid for the emergency exit row and then had problems with people blocking "their" extra space? Seems to me during busy time a lot of people tend to stand right in the space that someone has paid extra for!

Immigration. Not nearly as bad as it used to be (someone mentioned before) their new tactic of marshalling people to free booths and if you're the last out, this can work in your favour when the last of the US citizens has gone through since they'll usually open up these free booths to the non-US rabble, usually meaning you're closest to getting to the front of this new line!

Richard, don't worry, on my outbound flight to EWR I've booked seats as far forward in the cabin as possible and I'm going to try to get seats in row 30 at check-in.

I want to be as close to the exit as possible to make sure my partner and I are off the plane and into immigration ASAP

Re 747 rear seats--the very last ones in the row do not recline and are too often used as passenger conversational/stretch areas--chatting whilst waiting for the toilets, leaning over the back of the seat etc. I would choose one of the other pair farther up..

Damn it!! Just pre selected those seats for my flight to JFK next week, I guess I will try to move if there are any other of the sets of two seats left!!

64 A,C,H and K DO recline.

IMO, the four rows of two seats by themselves are the best in economy.

And you're usually guaranteed your first choice of meal as the service starts at the back of the aircraft

Do they recline or not? Some people say they do and some say they don't? I'm confused...
