UCS 343 Config Info For You.

Hello All

For the config anoraks out there (like me) you may be interested in the following. A -zone has 9 suites each side on the A and Ks and 7 centre suites that are "G" seats ie facing to the right. Galley 1L behind the L1 door has gone and will be the IFBT area (a la 346).

The bar is the same as 346 and is in the rear of a zone with three stools.

B zone has 9 suites, 3+3+3 and the centre ones are "D" facing the left.

Cheers

Hi James,

W35 (one extra row) in the new config and Y171 (from 187). No details as to whether they will put the new W seats in though.

Cheers

All sounds good VirginFSM! [y]
Are they bothering with a snooze zone?

My guess is that PE will remain exactly the same as present...?

I imagine the 9 suites in B zone will be snooze. By the way the 346 is a nightmare with 19 suites in snooze you always have pax sat there who dont want to be! MAKE IT SMALLER VIRGIN!

Cheers

The "B" zone sounds pretty cool, i like sitting in small sections like that [:p].

Will it look something like this?

Don't really have enough info yet to guess at the W/Y layout though...

Wow! that "B" section looks even better now, does anyone know which of the 343's are getting the suites?

That looks close pete! The galley at doors two stays as the "cross aisle" so the bar is a bit further fwd.

V good!

Something more like this?

Can you give me any more hints about the W/Y layout?

Pete

That looks great! The W section is nothing special, just one extra row to make 35. Y is therefore smaller with 171 instead of 187.

How do you put an image into your posts. If I can do that I can post the proper drawing from work!

STOP PRESS

Virgin are trialling your request on the VS 020 SFO-LHR on the 12 Nov 2005. To coincide with this new cabin, a special pre-flight Blue drink has been developed and will be distributed in large qty's in the clubhouse before boarding:D

Particularly interested in the PE reconfiguration.

Assuming that UCS is not pushing PE back (e.g. row 18 begins at the same place) it seems strange that they are sacrificing 16 Y seats for the addition of 7 PE. Generally you can fit 2 rows of PE into the space used by 3 rows of Y so it would have made more economic sense to take out ad additional 8 Y seats and add another 7 PE. OK it might mean more UG's but it is a better use of space.

Anyway - looks great and glad to see this is finally happening - it's been a long wait.

I'd be Interested to know about the PE seats too. Have the harvested any old seats they can use otherwise I don't see how they can put new style seats in the back row of PE only.

Thanks VirginFSM for the important update and thanks to Pete for getting a graphic together so quickly.

Pete befoe you firm up on the layout (you were probably going to do this anyway) may I suggest you make the pitch in PE more uniform, otherwise we will be getting asked why is there more room in rows 21 and 22 than in rows 19 and 20, Ta!

BTW I like Benjamin's idea and am happy to be guinea pig in the trial along with Iain and the guys ;)

What a shame!;)

B zone - here I come!:D

Where will the extra PE seats come from? Will new ones be made to the old specification or will they be taken from other planes?

Cheers,

OK, totally off-topic, but you do know, VS045, that you are now famous as it was apparently your "namesake" flight number that had that bit of difficulty this week?

Sorry, couldn't resist! [:I]

Downer on the lack of seperate lav for PE.

I'd assume that VS are putting all new PE seating on the 343, as currently the PE seats in the 343 don't have leg-rests.

EmPower sockets wouldn't go amiss either. I'd be really disappointed if these weren't specified for the W cabin as part of the refit.

Cheers,
Mike

If they don't address ALL of the PE shotcomings of the present A340-300 configuration it will really be disappointing; lack of lavs; poor seats without legrests; no room to move around the cabin; lack of dedicated FA, etc., etc.

Well what can I say, Chuck!;)

How could I not know!:D

Anyway, this is really good news as many of the flights that the A343s are deployed on are night flights eg. JNB, LOS, DEL etc. and it will be a lot more comfortable to sleep.
