V-Flyer

Just been looking on the VA website and came across their current vacancies list. Anyhow it appears they are looking to recruit Silver Service Waiters for their new Club House .......... am now really intrigued as to just how posh the new CH is going to be?!

A lot of us log straight into the V-Flyer forums and miss posts that Pix puts up on the front page of the site.

This article gives us an idea of what to expect.

Bad news for me is that is says phase one opens in August... we visit on 29th July [:(][:(]

I know...I was wondering about that opening date...from what I gather from the other posts, it would be opening in a month (so like mid-July)...any other confirms?

I'm very excited, my next flight is at the end of September and i've never been to the LHR clubhouse!! Can't wait, and then we'll be back there in March too!

Like Svenska, I too am curious about the actual opening date of the new CH. If VS are already hiring staff, might that not mean an earlier date than August?

Unlikely to mean an earlier opening date - remember it's June now already I also tend to think that if they're willing to commit a month in an official release, then that'll be a good idea of when it'll happen (whether other posts have mentioned July or not)

The job advert gives the closing date of 6th July - by that time they'll have all the applications in. Then there's the interview process, however long and whatever format that takes. When they've decided on candidates and offered the positions, in general over here folks have to give their current employer a month's notice when they want to quit.

Putting "in August" in the release could mean anywhere from 1st-31st August - so, I'd say that the beginning of August for the new staff to come on board looks "doable" at a push, maybe a tad over-optimistic. However, mid-late August would be a more realistic estimate, IMHO.

Hot, sweaty, and noisy (many mini-air con units in use around the place). The salon area can be unbearable at times, in the peak of the heat.

Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us. I have always loved the CH and hopefully the changes will enhance an already good product.

Please can phase 1 sort the aircon out though!!!

Very fair question, Nick. Perhaps they'd open it for you specially, as a private v-flyer viewing? It would make for a particularly well read TR

I am aware that some salon staff were sent to New York to be "trained" in Cowshed products back in May. Lucky VS salon staff. VS have put a lot of effort into this endevour.

Wow, reading that really makes me want to go there when I fly back from LHR in late August. It really does sound great, I especially like the conservatory idea, I wonder what that will look like.

Sneeked a quick look in through the doors last Thurseday. Its certainly not finished with loads of decorating still to do. And as you walk to the old CH you pass the galley, which is definitely still being worked on.

Sean and I have ages in Transit before flying home to HKG on Aug 27 so looking forward to this. He wasn't very impressed with old CH to be honest.

There's another bit about the new LHR CH in the 'latest news' section of the VS web site here. Interestingly, once the new CH opens you will be able to pre-book treatments (via email or the phone) as you can at LGW.

Has anyone else noticed this on the Latest news about the new CH?

Will it be American or British Pool, or the water variety? Or just a nice pond with some Koi Carp in?

It's great what they are doing to the LHR CH, but are they going to do the same at LGW for us lowly 'holiday flyers' - or are we not good enough for such perks[:(]

New Clubhouse Complete!

And is confirmed to be opening in August, but no exact date.

Interesting new additions - sauna and steam rooms, st tropez tanning, wireless access across the entire CH, laptops available to borrow. When the old CH is refurbed and open in Decemember the whole thing will be 2,640 square meters!

Even more excited about my SF and Oz trips now!!
