I just telephoned a cool lady to order a bottle of bubbly ( moet though yuk ) and a cake for my Dads 60th on our PE MAN to MCO.
I forgot to ask though if it was ok for the captain to make an announcement ( Duh ) this would thrill my dad, should I ring back or do they do that automatically for celebration orders, if at all.

if you don't ask you don't get -ring them, you've nowt to loose. Maybe ask for a cabin crew to do it rather than El Capitano - maybe easier for them to accomodate. If all else fails suggest you ask the most outgoing crew member on the flight
What a loving and thoughtful son you are. Well done

I think you are lovely too!!
Best to just ask the crew on the day, have a word with the FSM or CSS. They will know if the Captain is willing to do a PA, if not, either of them will be more than willing.
BTW the cake is DELICIOUS

What number should you ring? My out-laws are going out to MCO on Monday and we're following out to meet them one week later. Normally I wouldn't even contemplate a holiday with them but Pops (father-in-law) has been really ill with his diabetes and has had to be medically retired so I invited them along to give him somethihg to be cheerful about and focus his recovery on. I'd like to surprise them with some well wishes if possible.
Ta muchly,
Jacq

this might help;)
Thank you for your email.
Please speak with our Celebrations Department who can arrange an announcement onboard, or the purchase of a gift of your choice such as Champagne or chocolates from our onboard duty free selection. The gift can then be delivered to your father's seat during the flight.
The number to call is 0870 190 3003. Lines are available Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm. Any of our advisors will be pleased to help.
We do require a minimum 4 working days (Monday to Friday) notice prior to departure to process an order.
We look forward to welcoming you onboard.
Kind regards,

Thanks for this info egg. The Rear Admiral and I have a celebratory flight coming up (10 years of purgatory!) and it may be nice if I could arrange a little something along these lines for her.
