Hi all
On previous visits to the clubhouse I have tended to just sit in my seat, eating and drinking lots (which is a very pleasant thing to do anyway)but am feeling a tad braver for my next visit in 2 weeks time and fancy having a treatment from the salon.Do I have to pre book this or can I do it on the day? Any treatments in particular worth having? Apologies if these questions have already been answered somewhere else on this forum. Thanks
Shorty

Don't be bashful in the Clubhouse. My experience is that - if you are polite, the staff are only too helpful and will point out all of the facilities available to you.

You can also get your shoes cleaned in the Clubhouse but I believe that this is restricted to the pair that you are actually wearing.

Is the Clubhouse still accepting paying entry?
I thought it didnt but VH are advrtising the service on their website. Entrance for £30 per person?

As far as anyone at VS, that I have spoken to can say, the answer to this seems to be 'no'.
VH are also still advertising this facility in at least one of their brochures for all Pax. However when I had correspondence with VS some weeks ago they stated quite clearly that it was not possible to pay to gain entry to the Clubhouse. They further stated that they had nothing to do with what VH put in their brochures [:(!]
I would be very interested if anyone has any information to the contrary, but as far as I know, the only ways of getting into the Clubhouse are :
UC Flyers plus a guest.
VS Gold card holders plus a guest.
Elite levels of some partner airlines - when flying VS?
UK Amex Centurian card holders
By invitation.
Staff do appear to have a fair amount of flexibility during quiet periods, and it was suggested to me that there would be no harm in asking to pay for entry but I haven't tried.
If any of the above is incorrect, I am sure RM will put it right.

I was given an operational upgrade from PE to UC in Feb on a flight to MCO and was advised that no clubhouse pass would be given as it was an upgrade, however, I could pay at the Clubhouse reception if I wanted to.
Making it to the lounge and handing over me £25 I was in there with me champers, bacon roll, haircut and everything else within a bat of an eyelid:D.
No problems and no questions asked.
Matt
PS I was only a silver flyer then[V]

Well done Matt:D
Did you have to ask at check in about the Clubhouse 'pay as you go' scheme or was the offer of entry volunteered?
And had you booked through VH?

It has always been easier to pay for access to the LGW Clubhouse than the LHR one. And, as has been noted many times, VH used to provide paid access on a first come first served basis for a limited number of people at LGW. These days I suspect that it is more likely to be for special cases (like upgrades) and so on. When I have been upgraded at LHR (in the old days before being Gold/Platinum) then lounge access was never part of the deal.

Black Cat,
I just asked at Check-in and then advised at the clubhouse reception what check-in advised me.
This flight ticket itself was booked through VH so was on H fare.
I suspect though, as ashort1 mentions, its probably easier at LGW with all the B&S routes.
No harm in asking though I guess;)

When I was there last summer there were a couple of passengers for QA and their flight was duly announced by the staff

Yes Qatar do use the lounge.
Other one missing off the list is British Midland Gold's can use the LHR Clubhouse if flying on a VS flight - no guests.
I seem to recall that top-tier Singapore Kris flyers have the same benefit too - would need to check.
Thanks,
Richard

Thanks Goldenoldie, the other 10 pairs will have to stay in the suitcase I guess! Think I might have a manicure instead.
On the subject of entry to Clubhouses I am lucky enough to have access to LHR clubhouse courtesy of Mr Short's Gold Card

Ladies (and gents) encourage your other half to do lots of business trips with Virgin, that's one way round it!

The outlaws are due to go PE from LHR to MIA on 8 May. They have booked through VH and have pre-paid for lounge access. Father in law has spoken to VH who have "assured him" that it is Clubhouse access (as he really enjoyed it at LGW) but I'll let you know what comes through on the tickets when they arrive in the next week or so.

Thanks for that info. I am also flying out to MIA in June (and to BGI in September) with VH
I have just emailed VH to ask them if i could have access to the Clubhouse for both trips, i will let you all know what they say.
I did quote in my email the excerpt on their website, so i guess its a bit naughty if they say no when they are clearly advertising it, even if it is an error. I guess VA are a little annoyed with this one?

I have a suspicion that the lounge access provided through VH will be a Service Air lounge @LHR and not the clubhouse we will have to wait and see.

Many thanks - I have the same suspicion but won't let on to the outlaws until it is confirmed one way or another.

Hmmh, the literature would indicate that it is the Clubhouses.
If its ServisAir then they are overcharging, as the goign rate is around £15-17.50/per person for ServisAir, as per HolidayExtras.co.uk
Thanks,
Richard

Dear All
Some clarity has emerged - the outlaws tickets / VH vouchers duly arrived to find there was no voucher for lounge access.
This prompted phone call # 1 - this only elicited duplicate vouchers.
Phone call #2 confirmed that it was servisair lounge they had paid £25 for, but after checking availability and confirming they were VH Frequent Flyers - with additional dosh handed over - now able to say their visit to the Clubhouse has been secured.
Seems the morale is to check and check again.
?? Clear as Mud?? - I am taking them to LHR so will know the outcome on the day.

VH do seem to get in a pickle about the simplest things if they are not the standard package.I asked for a quote for 4 to HKG all in UC to stop at the Ritz Carlton in 2 club rooms VH quote the hotel in worldwide but not the room type.I was told it would take a week to confirm the club rooms were avalible[:0] they never even rang back with the price.

I have just had an email from VH stating that i was booked into the Clubhouse for my September trip to BGI. I enquired about the LHR Clubhouse and was given a number to call to make the reservation. The tone of the email did not indicate that there would be any issue booking, they said to simply call them and pay my £30!

Dear All
I can now report that courtesy of VH the outlaws made full use of the Clubhouse on 8 May (and much more besides)and had a great time before their flight to MIA.
Following another thread, they allegedly met someone famous but i will have to await their return to find out[:(]
