Yep, about four hours for me, I wish I joined at 00:00:00:00 though. They better fly to EWR, I'm hoping they at least start their service to all of VS's US destinations. It would seem the most logical path to follow.

Sorry, another EDIT. I read the offical report sent to the DOT and it seems that Virgin American will concentrate at SFO and NYC first. They sent copies of the letter to officals at SFO, EWR, LGA, and JFK airports. So it seems they are beggins for at least two of these aiports. Also, they intend to have 17 aircraft within the first couple months of service and so far the only thing they say they will have is DIY kiosks of some sort. No word on IFE or anything, but if you look at one of my posts in this forum you will see that VAM applied for some sort of on demand IFE service.

Well the email I received had added an extra day to the clock, the website one said:
00.15.01.26 but the email said 01.15.01.26. May be something to do with the time difference I imaging?

I predict that Virgin America will cause enough of a publicity stir that those of us with Day 1 or Day 2 "births" will look back at them with fondness.

If Virgin's plan is to do coast-to-coast flights, even flights feeding into Vegas, Orlando, San Fran and some other gateways -- well, things are getting exciting.

just an FYI,report in todays USA Today about it usa today but it says right at the bootom that a spokesman from VS says that pax will not earn miles on VS [:0][B)][:#][n][:$]

Well that will suck. Is there any mileage rewards with VS for other Virgin airlines? Virgin Express or Virgin Blue?

It would seem to me that there is an opportunity to feed traffic into VS airports from other cities- but for that to be most effective, I really think they should offer mileage credit.

Anyone know what the new Virgin America airline code will be?

firstly nice to see that I still cannot spell bottom..

Anyhow's there are a couple of shall we say strange things with VS america.

The first one being why not offer miles,at least get a codeshare agreement going with them,otherwise why should I fly VS america rather than HP or CO.

Second,why SFO,this airport can be a total disaster when the fog rolls in,while I understand this is just where the airline will be based it will be interesting to see what will happen as it grows.

We do assume that one of the plus points of having an intercontinental and local route network is to feed traffic to each, a la BA. So if no miles on Virgin America then indeed one incentive is less. Of course the LCCs don't offer miles but the competition includes Contintential, AA, United, Delta et al who do - mind you how many will be left in 2006 is unclear!

Though again with only one flight a day from London to SFO there probably isn't enough custom to feed a network!

As to routes, I hope they add PSP from SFO.

remember HP still offers miles and they are a LLC,hell they just beat Southwest on a flight over x-mas and thats not something thats easy to do.

I'd say its likely that VS-A will come up with a great FF plan of its own. If the awards included free flights throughout its network, and the inflight experience is above what the other LCCs -- or the majors, for that matter -- are doing, VS-A will compete head to head and carve out a nice niche for itself.

Well I do agree on that and if they offer a good product at the front of the plane I may well start flying with them if the price is right.
