Do you get miles and tier points for F and Y fares with America West?

I did not see any reference to tier point in VS web sites terms and conditions.

Thanks

Hiya

Yes you can earn tier points on HP flights, but the flights must of course be booked as a qualifying fare class.

Tier points earnt are:

Y = 0 TPS for flights under 2000 miles, 1 TP for flights over 2000 miles
F = 1 TP for flights under 2000 miles, 2 TPs for flights over 2000 miles

HTH?

Look, HighFlyer is so nice :) Also HP offers some standby/last minute upgrades at great prices; USD50 LAS-SFO IIRC. Some people have recently reported problems not earning miles is the upgraded class (First) but earn miles in the booked class. Just something to consider.

You dont normally get First Class tier points or miles though if you do the $50 one-way First Class upgrade during online check-in or at the airport.

Hi Ben, posting at the same time i see!

True. HP/VS state that this airport upgrade is at a reduced rate so not elligible for miles/tier points. So to take advantage of earning tier points on the short internal flights you would really need to book your F fare in advance - which can be costly.

As its only 1TP, i would be tempted to upgrade at the airport and have the comfort without the huge cost.

no,so you have to be careful when booking flights that the flight s is a HP one,not an HP flight flown by US.
