Discount for Seniors

PostPosted: 15 Jan 2006, 15:20

I've tried ring VS, but I'm fed up with waiting for them to answer the phone.

Just a quick one,
My parents (both 77 this year)want to fly see my Brother get married in St lucia later his year. Most likely they will fly UC.

I'm know I've read somewhere that seniors are entitled to 10% discount on airfares, if booked on line.
I can't see anything on the VS website and I can't remember where I saw it in the first place.

Can anybody throw some light on this. If the discount does apply, is it on any fare or is it restricted to full fares only? (they will be buying a 'Z').

Thanks,
Tim.

I haven't heard of VS booking giving seniors discount when booking direct. There isn't a facility to enter details on the website to enter anything other than 'adult' 'child' or 'infant'. As usual, I stand to be corrected though.

I would think you may be able to get discounts when booking through certain travel agents that specialise in senior travel, such as Saga. I suppose in real terms their travel is more expensive becuase of the insurance weighting [:(!]

We got a senior (10%) discount when I booked via telephone last year. It came as a nice suprise.

Had to use telephone booking rather than on-line in order to guarantee one 'D' fare for the limos

If you phone and book direct with Virgin and are over 60 you will get a 10% discount. We got this for my dad on his upcoming flight to NY, not sure about my mum - we are away for her 60th.

The senior citizen discount is generally around 10 percent off the fare. (still full taxes to be paid) This is not available on all routes and all classes, but if you ring in and ask, if it is available, Virgin can book the fare for you over the phone. This cannot be currently booked via the website.

Hope that helps

Great to have you on here, Juliet [y]

I guess we'd better get you a slightly more funky (and appropriate) picture to go under your name...

...would a FC Gold card do you? [:p]

Well let's book you in as Juliet for the moment then. As to the avitar, yep, that's a toughy. Perhaps you are able to share your objective here though. Will it be a flying visit like a 'senior VS manager' or will you be with us a while. Will your presence be official, or otherwise?

Presence here unofficial for the moment, so will probably be fleeting, although you never know.
