Concorde at Manchester

So I have started a 'hobby' of visiting all the Concordes on display. Have been to the one in Washington DC (well really Chantilly, VA) and the one in New York.

So the one in the Museum of Flight is on the tap for August.

I hear the one in Manchester is well done with a little museum. Rumor has it that there is even an area to take pictures of planes and write in logs. [:p];)

Would it be worth the trek to Manchester for the day to see Concorde? What are your favorite things to see in Manchester?

Thanks

MAN is always very popular with spectators as you can get very close to the A/C and runways.

There's a few other bit and pieces there as well including a flight simulator.

The only problem is though if you fly into MAN, it's a fair way to the where the Concorde and spectator area is as you have to leave the airport and then come back at it. I've never actually visited the spectator area so others might have a better idea though.

HTH

Regards

Hey Ben

Good old Manchester, i have friends there so if you are headed that way then let me know.

Top tourist things have to include a visit to the Trafford Centre (huge shopping centre), a visit the worlds largest vending machine, there is also a car-park that charges 20p for an hours stay, but i wont bore you with my picture of that ... and of course a visit to MAN airport to see which of the LGW fleet is in town. (you can tell how exciting i am to be with in Machester cant you)

Though to answer your original question, i havent seen G-BOAC there, but will be doing so on my next visit to my northern chums. :)

Just drove past Filton (Bristol) today and they had a Concorde tucked away at the side of the runway. I don`t know if you can visit it though. You can always "vist" it by binoculars if you need to complete the set.

Being serious for a sec Ben,you may want to get down to BGI pretty quickly, the concorde that is on display there has been left out in the open for a while, with not much care being given to it,a sad situation to say the least.

They are at last restarting construction on a hanger for it,but as with all things in the islands who knows how long it will take.

Just as a disclaimer...my info is a couple of months old,who knows the hanger might have been built by now?
