Have you missed the two episodes a night since Monday then Michael?
Plused them all (minus the repeats) and watched a couple already.

Wow - how times have changed... I remember when "Tivo'd" was the in-phrase. Now it's "plused"?!

Cheers for the reminder though - I forgot all about it... [:I]

Nope, just noticed no-one had mentioned it yet and since this is a flying-related subject.....

;)
Managed to see at least 1 full episode per night, and have taped the rest (no swanky + box here [:(]). Wonder how many times this series will be repeated....
Cheers

Good point, Mike - If it's anything like the previous one, it'll be on repeat once a month for the next year

I think he might be! But did you understand the reference to 'plusing' it?
At least a tape you can take with you and play it at your mates house (oh no you can't as he binned his tape player years ago!)

Uh-oh...
Previous tail scrape somehow linked to a crash 7 years later....? [:0][:I]

so it is a dvr....ok..Paul let me speak american to you for a sec, seeing as this thread has gone off topic (surprise !)are we talking about something along the lines of the direct tv dvr from tivo?

Yup - almost identical. Sky being our main alternative to DirectTV (amongst others over there)
Actually,
here you go [y]

You've lost me their in the technicalities, but I know what Tivo is (urghh!) and it is similar, but as Paul says this also has a dual tuner satellite receiver in it, which although gives you the potential (i guess) for nearly 1000 channels, I can never find anything to watch. The Plus part is actual the ability to record on HDD, which is actually becoming acceptable language to most people.
So if you miss something, make sure you have it plused so you can watch it at your leisure.
Mind you a serious note though. NO SERIES LINK! WHY!

Thanks for the heads up, watching it now! Loved the first series, especially the episode with the BA pilot that got sucked out of the windshield, that was fascinating.
Plus it, Red Button, Series link ... all common terminology now
But as a side .. what the hell are Sky playing at moving the planner to the Green button? That's really irked me!!

One of this week's new episodes is already repeated tonight - the missile strike over Baghdad was on the other night [ii][ii]

I have seen similar late night movies involving someone being sucked out of a car windows[}:)][}:)][:X]
Seriously though, I agree about the stupid green button. Why!? And my Sky+ has also just gone into meltdown. Got to 47 mins through something and nothing works. Switched it off and on again (a la The IT Crowd) and its still no good!

Sorry ... i just read 'late night movie', 'car' and another word all too close together in the same sentance! Ive seen similar movies i think ...

Whats happening when your Sky stops working? Does it just crash?
I get the whole 'program failed to record due to a technical fault' nonsense. Sometimes you need to switch it off for a good half hour, then turn it back on but VIA the remote control to get it back up and running (it does the annoying 'search for listings' followed by the more annoying 'demo channel' but its fine after that)

Well if it's anything like an HD Tivo (which has two tuners as well)then your looking at a new HD,thats worse case, bestcase is a reload of the software.

And both of tonight's episodes were repeats of earlier in the week. Jeez, bit bad repeating episodes of a new series in the very first week - especially when it's supposed to be a "focus week" [:0]

Sky+ now working again, maybe it's because I replaced the hard disc (with 160gb) and mine is one of those original ones with the dodgy firmware.
Anyway back on Topic, just watched that one where the DHL plane got hit by a missile. Firstly I never heard that story, secondly what an amazing piece of pilotry (is that a word?).
Thirdly and most importantly, what the hell are the FAA doing. They reported that there has been software developed to safely land an aircraft that has lost all of it hydraulics using engine control alone. Now, I was asking myself why aircraft manaufacturers hadn;t done anything about total loss of hydraulic fluid before I even watched that DHL ACI surely there must be some way not to have ALL the hydraulics linked together so one leek causes the whole system to fail. Talk about SPOF. But now there is also a backup and the FAA don't think it is necessary! Even the NTSB has 'recommended it'.
I think this all comes down to that magical 'cost of a life' calculation which I am sure one of you will know exactly what it is. But then again how much can a bit of software costs.
.. hmm just thought about that last statement, Boeing are in Seattle, Microsoft are in Seattle, Microsoft write expensive overpriced software...............

OK, As an inpartial outsider I have reviewed this thread. All this 'Direct TV', 'Red-it', 'TVoh', software reloading, resets for half an hour, DVR, VcD, UYA.....[:(][:(][:(]
My conclusion : Have you tried going outside, perhaps playing golf, going for a sail([y]), having a walk, feeding the birds, whatever really. There's a whole world beyond being sucked out of a cockpit!;)
(ps - Neat trick on the posting time on your last post P17BLO[y])

ISTBC, but with fly-by-wire aircraft, such as the A340's, the control surfaces are controlled by independent electrics, rather than through a hydraulic system, removing the need for this.

As I never go out and just sit in front of computer or sky+ all day I have plenty of time to wait for an appropriate time 'trick' to come along.

:D
I just find the birds round here to be a nuisance chirping at stupid times of the night whilst I am trying to sleap. I set the cats on them....
