Can anyone tell me more about the secondary screening on arrival at MCO. Is it a random check or does everyone have their baggage screened again?

I think everyone is subject to the secondary screening upon arrival. But i think that this is only for international flights though.

All arriving international pax have to undergo full screening (that is bags, laptops, coats through the X-ray machine and individuals going through the detector arch - which might mean shoes belts etc.etc also through the X-ray machine;))

This is because arriving pax "cross" departing pax as they make their way to the transit.

By this time you have given back your suitcases and collect these again over in the main terminal

After clearing customs ( arriving off a vS/BA flight from LON), you put your hold bagage onto another belt then clear security agin as you will be airside in the departure terminsl then take the tram to the main terminal to collect your baggage and exit the airport.

The queue at security has never been too bad and the TSA screens appear to be more friendly( in my experience) than the ones at the main security points for departures -maybe its to do with less number of pax and appreciating pax are tired after arriving of a long haul?

All the same it is shoes and belts off time to speed your way through.

Thanks everyone for that. Better make sure i levae my lighter behind then and remove my belt in advance. At least it doesn't sound like the normal shoe carnival / long wait like normally happens.

But it remains absurd and is only required due to the very poor layout on the MCO 'Satelite' - to add insult to delay MCO is part of the group attempting to sell fast track TSA clearance for $80 via retinal scanning. In their interest therfore to add silly extra screening.

Why do you think it is due to the satellite layout John? MCO is made of four identical satellites and if you arrive through one of the internal satellites then you do not have the secondary screening.

I do agree that it is a little obsurd, but the reason is that you can arrive, clear customs with hand luggage only and effectively go straight to one of the delta departure gates and get straight on-board another aircraft. I guess they are screening at this point as they don't trust the screening of other countries.

That's the exact reason. If you've come off an internal flight, you've already been through American TSA security. Whereas people who land from an international origin have not been through this.

Its the same at the flight connections centre at LHR (or at least it used to be) - if you've landed from another airport in the UK, you did not need to go through security again to catch your international flight. And again people who landed from outside the UK have to pass through security at the entrance to flight connections no matter where there destination is.[:X]
