Anyone out there reccommend any accommodation in LA?

I can get good rates at plenty of hotels but just not sure where to stay. The favourite at the moment seems to be the Millennium Biltmore, downtown, anyone stayed there???

I'm staying for 3nts in July. First time in LA so want to be able to get around.Final leg of our round the world trip!

Cheers
Adam :)

I stayed at the Hilton Checkers last Sept. Nice rooftop pool/bar, and a bit of personality to the place (and directly opposite the Water Grill Restaurant which can't be bad).

Such a massive place it depends what you want to do,last time we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey nice hotel close to LAX,but a long way from downtown.I would like a look at the Biltmore as there have been loads of films shot there, think they also hosted the oscars at some time.

Welcome, Adam ...
Happy to have you with us at V-Flyer.

I've stayed at the Biltmore. It is an old hotel ("historic", if one stays with politically correct terms) in the Bunker Hill section of downtown LA. While it is fine, I think you would have a lot more fun staying somewhere where the nightlife, or the scenery, or the accessibility to tourist attractions is greater. Downtown sort of rolls up the sidewalks early.

As has been said, LA is massive. What particular things would you enjoy doing while here? Are you a "theme park" lover? There are quite a few here. Do you want to see professional sports games? Will you be wanting to smell the ocean air? Finally, what is your budget per night? Adults only? Kids' ages?

If you can give us some more direction, the other members will help you out with good suggestions, I'm certain.

Thanks for your suggestions.... I have ended up booking the Biltmore yesterday because got a really good deal of £160 for 3nts double room!!

We decided that the Biltmore was central to where we could travel around to and was a really cheap deal!!! We don't really want to do theme parks so will just want to chill out and have a look around in the sun at the end of a long trip!!

Thanks again,
Adam
