Strictly off topic, but please tell me if I have overlooked the possibility of paying these UK utilities by credit card. We are currently paying by direct debit:
BT
London Energy
Thames Water
..and for good measure...
Wandsworth Council Tax

Every company has its own rules.
We currently can't pay the council tax (or whatever it is called now) by CC, but friends a few miles away in the next borough, can. [:(!]
Check with your providers.

London Energy which is part of EDF Energy will take payment by Credit Card.
I think they charge 1.5% for this.

Not sure about other cards, but when I asked about paying my BT bill with Amex, I was told that it they didn't accept it.
They also said that Amex customers were "Almost non-existent" in the UK and that's why they don't accept it!
(Nothing to do with the cost then BT!)

Sky will allow you to pay by card. My subscription is debited to my FC CC each month.
Thanks,
Sarah

A quick check of the Wandsworth website reveals:
"We regret that we are presently only able to take payments by Switch and Delta debit cards; you cannot pay by credit card."
As to paying utilities by CC, I'm not sure it's worth it and I'm quite the miles tart. My combined gas and electricity bills are around £1,000 a year. A 1.5% surcharge would be £15 and I would lose a direct debit payment credit of £25 - so total of £40 in total to net 2,000 miles. A 1 way PE upgrade is 20,000 miles and at this rate would cost £400 if you follow - so a non starter for me.
Paying Sky though sounds interesting, would only be 100 miles a month but worth having if no cost - don't they surcharge, Sarah?
Regards
Pat

Dont seem to. My subscription is £36 PCM and that is exactly what gets billed to my CC each month. Seem to be onto a winner there, although admittedly im not the most estute person when it comes to bean counting so dont take my word for it. Probably best to check with them yourself if you are thinkig of switching payment methods.
Thanks,
Sarah

I pay the following on my Virgin CC: TV Licence, Sky, Orange, Onetel, Wanadoo (internet), Pipex (internet), South East Water. You can also pay your car tax but there is a surcharge for that as there also is for Wealden Council tax.

I too pay my NTL bills with my CC. No problems there whatsoever.
Didn't know I could pay O2 that way. May have to see if I can do this instead of a DD.

London Borough of Redbridge allow you to pay Council Tax by credit card, in instalments and without a surcharge. Pretty good, but they lose points for not taking Amex.

I pay my ISP by cc - but I think it's bit patchy otherwise as to who will take it and who not.

Ashfield District Council now accept CC payment online 2.5% for visa and mastercard but no amex.At least now you can pay them monthly instead of having to pay the whole demand upfront.

I think the op's name is composed of an American zip code (in Miami, FL) and a UK postcode (south-west London).

Not really a utility but paying school fees online via credit cards is a great way to earn points.
With the UA Visa, cardmembers earn double points on money spent at schools. AmEx is normally not accepted at places of high learning for some reason (I think it is the fee).
