Any recommendations for staying in Whistler for a couple of nights in September? Somewhere very central?

It is a fair few years since we were in Whistler, and I am sure it has changed an awful lot since then. [:I] I do remember though that we sorted our hotel out through the Whistler tourist people, I can't remember if it was the Chamber of Commerce or similar.

Because Whistler is ostensibly a ski resort, their peak time is the winter and I remeber that when we went in the summer, we got a fantastic rate at a great hotel, because it was so quiet.

The ski lifts were still open and we were able to walk some fantastic trails up in the mountains without the effort of climbing from the bottom. [}:)]

That's sort of what I thought - and was hoping September will still bo considered off peak and no snow. Plans are a bit fluid are the moment - but you think it's worth going?

It is a wonderful place, and the drive from Vancouver along the 'Sea to Sky' highway offers some magnificent scenery. I would have no problem recommending it as an area to visit.

The Hilton Whistler has just opened ( rebranded) plus 1000 Vs miles per stay.

I was there in January for a few days after a conference - the Hilton was just being finished it is right in the centre of the village. It is next to the Westin which is another fab property to stay at. There is also the Fairmont Whsitler which is very, very nice.

I actually stayed at the Tantalus Lodge which was a short 5 minute walk from the town centre, the accomodation was spacious but needed a bit of an update - was fine for the few of us that were there.

You could try using whistler.com which has a UK freephone number you can call for quotes - I used them for our booking.

it's been a while,but as Richard says,the Fairmont is a very nice property,a few mins outside of "town",but nothing major.

Yup go for the Hilton.

The fairmont is at the base of Blackcomb mountain so technically nowhere near the centre of whistler. The Westin is a fantastic hotel next to the Whistler Village Gondola should you wish to go up the mountain!!

Having said that Whistler Village isn't the biggest place, but one thing I will say is that its equally as busy in the summer as it is in the winter!

Have been to have a look at, and like the Hilton, so think I'll go for that..... now casting around for the best deal.

I'd probably pick the hilton (for the points) now its there but we used the Delta Whistler Village Suites last time - which is right in the middle of the town. Wonderful amenities, helpful and friendly staff and a good little restaurant (which you may want to check out one evening) called - I think - the Millstone.

Hi Daisy, I think you will find that the Hilton and Delta Whistler Suites are actually the same property - Hilton bought the site last year.
