Just reading the BA highlife mag on my commuter trip over this morning and it mentions that all the One World group of Airlines have agreed and will move to T3 by 2009 with a few BA flights operating out of there as well as T5.

Sorry if it is old news but I could not see anything in the search.

Blimey[:0] Thanks for that Ian - I at least hadn't heard that news!
What's going to happen to VS then? I'm not sure they'll be happy moving after spending however many million on the new CH and then having to move after only three years.

Japan Airlines just announced they're joining OW the other day, too, I believe. [:?]

Yeh the moves are as follows:

Pre 2012 when the satalite at t5 will open:

Terminal One: Star Alliance
Terminal Two: Will be demolished to make way for Heathrow East Terminal Complex
Terminal Three: One World and VS
Terminal Four: Skyteam
Terminal Five: BA + QF

Non aligned airlines will be placed in terminals in a 'dovetail' fashion apparently.

I had previously read that VS would be moving to T1 with the *a carriers but cant find it now on baa.co.uk so maybe it has changed!

EDIT: Just searched for previous posts and realised that indeed VS were originally going to be in T1 and then would move into Heathrow East once completed. (its under the post "your next flight departs from..."

There was another story a while back that suggested VS would be moving within T3 to have virtually a 'terminal within a terminal' ... wonder what will actually transpire. This must represent huge cost for the airlines! And then there's the takeover of BAA to consider and any impact that has on plans. Looks like a period of uncertainty ahead!

No chance of a VS terminal 6 then[:0][:I];)

I got all the info i posted earlier off the Heathrow Airport Master Plan on the BAA Website. The previous information I spoke about was also on the site under the Heathrow East Plans but has been changed.

Here is a like for the master plan which downloads as a pdf.

The information about terminal moves can be found on page 30 at the bottom!

And as for Terminal 6- in the appendix is the proposed airport layout in the years to come. This includes a new runway and another new terminal to roughly on the site of the current heathrow spur road from the m4 to the central area.

Title:- Two terminals One World

"Members of the oneworld alliance have signed an agreement with BA to consolidate their Heathrow operations in an upgraded Terminal 3.
Currently oneworld carriers are split across the existing 4 heathrow Terminals.
Under the new agreement BA's Oneworld partners, Aer Lingus,American Airlines,Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia and Qantas will be located in a single terminal from 2009. BA will be the only carrier at terminal 5, and will operate a small number of services from terminal 3"

There you have it.

Thanks Iain for that, much as Will said earlier. I am sure initially the rumour machine had said that the One World members would all move to T5 with BA but I guess there simply isn't the room after BA moves in?

VS will still operate from T3 for a good few years to come.

There is more than enough room for One World and VS, especially as some of the biggest players - American, Cathay, JAL etc and some smaller ones - Royal Jordanian are already there, and BA already operates flights out of T3.

Doesn't sound like much of a change!!

We have been led to believe Star Alliance will be moving in T4 freeing up more desks at T3 for One World.

VS are not about to throw all that cash invested in the Clubhouse, new Drive Thru and the revamp of check in area away. As someone has already said, VS will have something similar to a terminal within a terminal.

Lipstick- as mentioned above it looks like Skyteam are off to T4 and Star are off to T1 and will eventually be resident in the new heathrow east terminal
