Spotted this on another forum, looks like an excellent deal.
BA have got some extra discounted fares at the moment beacause they're closing their Travel Shops. This is the offer link :-
+ britishairways.com/travel/batsbooknow/public/en_gb
Loads of routes seem to be available, I just checked LHR-JFK for the end of November and I'm getting £148.60 return in Economy and £368.60 return in Premium Economy.

Is there gonna be a price war - the other carriers ( VS included) surely won't leave their prices above BA's for too long - good for us passengers I guess!!

And also Club World to Orlando in November for £926
Was looking at paying £1,350 for Upper Class with VA [:0]

Just booked my LGW-MCO-LGW for Jan/Feb - Less than £950 per person in CLUB - I have been trying to book this week with VS paying for S upgrading to G and nothing available (at ALL!) - I spoke to the VS rep and they said "VS can sell UCS seat 10 times over at the moment, especially the LGW routes so we don't need to release G seats" - Oh well, their loss as I now booked with BA and didn't use any miles to boot.
I am very pleased with this as VS are not in my good books at present - I think their service has really gone down hill and their (along with others, they are not alone) Loyalty program is not good at present.
Well done to DUK for the link.

Another 'Thank you' for the link Duk.[y]
Just booked flights to Chicago in Nov for £200 return. Always wanted to visit, and was waiting for Virgin to hopefully restart this route, but with BA's low prices I couldn't resist any longer!

Hmmm, can I justify another £200 extra to fly VS to Boston?! [?] It would take me up to Silver though - not that Silver is really worth anything to me.

Just taking advantage of these offers for my annual trip to Orlando, and another visit to Boston.

Have not flown BA in 4 years only VA.
Even though there's a £3 Credit Card surcharge I thought it would be rude if I didn't use my Virgin Mastercard for the FC Miles !

Thanks for the heads up Duk

For reference, the offer at that price is now closed (as of midnight), but the £100 off "regular" fares still applies.

preiffer,
Is that for all fares? Looking at the T&C it seems to suggest the promotion runs till the 30th of July.

Yes, it applies to all fares. The offer is: £100 off economy, £200 off PE and £400 off club.
The REAL cheapness ended last night at midnight - when an Economy fare was only £248 inc. taxes (ie: £150 to NYC with this offer).

Ah ok gotcha, still some good deals to be had and will be booking one myself hopefully tomorrow, first trip with the darkside in CW....

Why it was so cheap was the over lapping of 2 offers, a ba summer sale(now ended) and the travel shop sale(on to the end of the month),still £400 off CW but no more £900 to PHL which is where we are off in 2 weeks;)

I've just been checking options for a week away in Antigua next February. I'm completely flexible on dates, and yet the cheapest UC fare on VS is still a 'D' at over £2.5K plus taxes - £2653 in total. By comparison theres plenty of 'I' availability on BA which comes in at an all in price of £1553 or, using the travel shop offer, £1153.
So - the choice is VS UC for £2653 or BA Club for £1153. Much as I view myself as a loyal Virgin customer, they're having a laugh on this. I wonder if they'll wake up at some point, or if they just don't want my money.
Shame! [n]

My theory is they're trying to shed some Aus - specifically the Z flyers - like most V Flyers

I guess they could be,I wonder what the ave. AU holder costs VS in terms of CH access over a year while not flying UC [?] IMHO though it would be better to raise the price of a Z to a couple of hundred more than BA those who are shopping just on cost will move over to BA,being a couple of thousand over BA will drive a lot more than your ave. Z fare hound away.

Well, they may achieve it for me. I've got a trip coming up to SYD later this year, for which I can either fly VS (D or J) and keep my Au for another year. Or I can fly BA (also D or J) which will get me BA Ag (and therefore lounge access on the cheapest fares around UK and Europe for a year). Given that the February ANU trip I mentioned above would then get me a lot of the way to BA silver renewal, it looks like I might have to lose my sense of loyalty.
At the moment, I'm inclined to fly BA to SYD, let the VS Au membership lapse, and shift my spending (flights and CC) towards BA. As I said before, it's a shame. But given few seats on the flights I can use my miles on for an UC redemption, very high prices for the routes I want to fly to on holiday, and the lack of anything as good as the BA Amex 2 for 1 on VS, I regret it's becoming too stark a contrast not to think hard about the options. [n]
Best wishes
David

With the LGW UC cabin being so small VS are probably able to sell all the seats in the higher buckets, not good for us trying to find a bargin.Looks like your Au card is going the same way as mine.

I just want to say a big thanks to Duk for this link.
I have got myself a trip to JFK and back from TPA in November for £425 in WTP and my parents into MIA and back from TPA for £435. Even my brother got in by getting himself a flight in the back for £215 of which £130 was taxes.
Was sad not to be booking with VS but at those prices it just seemed silly not to switch over to the Dark Side...
