Belfast to LHR

Just booking a flight to LHR for my weekend in NYC and as always I'm held to ransom by BMI! Does anyone think there will ever be another airline that will take up this route?

I've no problem with BMI but I do think the route needs some more competition, belfast to any other major UK airport has at least 2 companies flying to it [:?]

Well as I am sure you know, BA use to operate that route from Belfast International. Thing is they were supposedly competing
with BMI then, but their fares were ALWAYS higher. Paying 150 quid for a return flight was pretty normal. It would be good if a LCC carrier could start to fly there from the international, but probably is too expense to keep their costs down and the slots at LHR are probably an issue.

...and that's why the EZY flights all serve Gatwick, Luton or Stanstead. I agree that a carrier needs to compete with BMI to LHR, and preferably from BFS, as the airport facilities are now pretty good, and there's plenty of gate capacity. However, as was mentioned, the same is currently not true at Heathrow. Maybe after T5 gets going?
