V-Flyer

Hi,
We are flying to Hawaii in December and have narrowed it down to Hawaiian or Delta.
Any recommendations or experiences gratefully received.

I would consider American Airlines ( if you have a BA silver or gold card then you get lounge access and business/first class check in).

I would look for YUP fares which can be reasonable and book into First class ) on the AA 763 these seats have 50 inches of pitch and good recline.

In economy, it is much of a muchness ( Hawaiian leave from T2 (VS's terminal) and I think still offer free food on board)

Sorry, forgot to mention.
We are looking at flying Business/First whomever we go with.
As both Delta and Hawaiian get VS tier points and miles, we were keen to go with one of these.

I am with TBS always use AA, the 767 service is very good and stunning value in FC on YUP fares.
From recent reports on v-flyer I wouldn't touch Delta with an extremely long stick but Hawaiian FC reports have been very favorable.

Sorta OT but could someone post a TR on a European mid-haul (4-6 hour) flight? I am failing to see the difference besides the free booze.

Back on topic. I have a friend who has just returned from Maui. He and his family flew HA and were very pleased.

There was a First TR for HA which was very favourable - I too would steer clear of DL;)

How about Continental (CO) in this case. CO's serivce is reported to br quite good ( better than DL)

CO is also a VS partner.

The return was in the economy section in the back. Personally I did not see any difference between BA and DL besides the free booze in economy and a 'sandwich.' Who eats bree and cranberries on a bun anyway?

Not sure which aircraft they use, but don't most of the Business/First seats on US flights only have 37" pitch?

Well I think it was CE, the most forward cabin. It was a economy seat with the middle seat blocked. Hot food but thats it.

If it was CE then main advantage is J check-in and lounge access with no status (in most places). Seats are either 2-3in J & 3-3Y,.Free food and booze,I have developed quite a liking to the 1/4 bottles of fizz,a good crew will try to drown you with them:DOther main advantage is all CE Business fares earn full miles and TPs,the I sale fares are cheaper than flexible Y.

Not many, if any at all, of the US airlines allow lounge access with their premium products - although I'm not totally sure about this;)

Done some hunting round on the net and have concluded that going with DL would be a big mistake;) Although there are a few good/OK reviews, most are the opposite of complimentary[n]

Im considering taking CO there as well (only 2 flights from bfs comared to 3 i'd have to take if i flew vs). Would be interested in some feedback on them

I did look at CO but couldn't get them as an option from any of the specialist travel agents. Also, they only have an overnight return flight and we'd prefer a daytime.
It looks like HA is the best choice - and my original one too.
They don't make much of their lounge facilities on the website.
Am I correct in assuming that flying FC gets you into the lounges at LAX and HNL?

Go with Hawaiian. During the daytime flights or if cheaper get a cheap TED/Southwest to SFO or even LAS> We've tried several of the trans-pacific airlines.

Continental were good with their BizFirst product but that's been tamed down to just a first service with bigger seats. HA has a very nice exclusive 18 seat cabin with the new style overhead bins so plenty or room. You don't have to worry about lounge access as all F pax get lounge access I think with delta as LAX (def SFO)

They truely are the aloha spirit and so much better than all the other US airlines. By the way the delta new 767 have been fitted terribly and are extremely uncomfortable, going for HA gets you lounge access, great food, the best FA ever and 2 TP each way. Book them via travelocity.com or co.uk and they work out very reasonable.
