Has anyone used the Servisair lounge at London Heathrow? Is it worth the £16.50?

Any info you can provide will be appreciated :-)

Thanks

It isn't a Clubhouse - but then what is? ;)

Last time I used it, which is a couple of years ago, I found it too busy and smokey. A lot of the overseas airlines seem to use it as their lounge. You can help yourself to drinks and nibbles of nuts, crisps etc. and it is less of a madhouse than the airside waiting area.

Whilst the area around the duty free is so busy and the gates aren't being called until shortly before boarding, due to the ongoing refurbishment of the gate area, I would say that £16.50 is worth paying if you want a quieter area to work or chill out in - but don't expect too much luxury!

Thanks for the info. I am flying on a Friday so I am hoping it will be less busy than a weekend. Am not looking for too much luxury just a bit of peace and quiet and a few snacks.

Do you know if there is a view out of the window?

Jonathan

I am 99% sure that there isn't a view out of the window, but I am easily confused and may be mixing up lounges when I picture the LHR one.

Sorry to contradict you, Nick, but there is a smallish window and you can watch flights arrive and depart from their stands. Not terribly exciting, but it passes the time!

Cheers

Contradict away Buffers, if I write garbage - it needs to be corrected:D:D

I am obviously getting my lounges mixed up - I stand by the rest of my comments though.

Last time I was in, it was crowded but a lot better than being in the terminal well worth £16.50. I though I had read somewhere that it had recently changed?

I used it on a Saturday in late April. It was quiet when I was there (for a 9.30am flight, so quite early), comfortable and had a good selection of drinks along with some snacks. I'm pretty sure it's non-smoking (could be wrong on this, but it certainly wasn't smokey when I was there). If you want to escape the main airport I'd recommend it.

Cool, how far was it from the gate?

My memory is that it was a fairish walk, but I think avoiding the 'Heathrow hike' is pretty much impossible.

I only used the one at LGW and it was fine free drinks and nibbles etc
its no clubhouse!! but these lounges are certainlly nicer than waiting by the gate!

It really depends on how you value an hr or so of your time for £16 id go for it..(if I wasn't VS Gold of course!)

Would be nice hehe, next month I will have flown 4 times to Boston and 1 time to Vegas in a year but dont think I can justify spending extra on a priority pass. But thanks for the advise!

Get an amex plat card, priority pass and yours & families travel insurance included. The insurance alone is worth more than the fee £275 if you travel regularly.

I have used this fairly recently - I assume we're talking LHR T3 lounge here - and don't recognise some of the other descriptions but I believe Servisair have recently moved lounges and taken over one which used to belong to an airline, Quantas? Its next to the Kuwait Airways lounge.

It is nothing special - reasonable seating and choice of drinks, a few snacks. However there is a totally enclosed smoking section - no seepage of smoke into N/S section - and a panoramic window at one end overlooking part of one of the runways just at the point where the "heavies" take off. Wasn't too crowded when we were there, and right next to the gate we were using that day for VS003.

We used the ServisAir lounge on our last trip to San Francisco. It's not the Clubhouse, its never going to be the Clubhouse. However what it is a nice, clean, comfy and quiet - no annoying screaming children, plenty of drinks and nibbles - i always take extras for the flight, a view across part of the airfield.

It is now the old Quantas louge - the glass divides around still have the Quantas logo on them. Personally I happily pay for this lounge access because it is more quieter, more comfortable and relaxing then out in the main departure area. And if your flight is delayed at all you can stay there enjoying more drinks and nibbles.

It has a selection of papers and pay for access Internet terminals, and I think you can plug your laptop into them too.

Foz :o)

Well maybe with the larger, better clubhouse to come VS may offer a membership program to gain access (via a fee p.a.) similar to the UA Red Carpet, DL Crown Room, US whatever it is called, and AC Maple Leaf just to name a few

a boy can hope :)

Always seemed weird - I must be spoilt by VS but I'd struggle to justify paying for Red Carpet or Crown. I guess if you used them every week if commuting but even then they seem expenseive for what you get.
