Has anyone had this months miles credited to their Flying Club account? Mine where on my credit card statement a few days ago but have not yet appear in my FC account.

My Sep statement miles appeared on the 2nd October. If your statement has just been prepared, I'd expect the miles to appear in the first week of November, as it seems it's all done on the same date.

I thought they credited the miles in arrears, on or shortly after the 1st of the month. My last Flying Club miles credit from the VS Amex was on 2nd October and this was the miles off the September statement.

The miles are on my October statement, the ones off the September statement were credited a few days ago.
Has anyone got confirmation from MBNA that this is the new policy, the mastercard miles were typically credited the same day the statement was created previously.

This does appear to be the pattern they are settling in to - my Sept miles appeared at the beginning of October. I'm not sure why this would be the case in the future, my old Virgin Mastercard and my new BMI card (both also MBNA) get credited almost immediately the statement is produced - maybe they're just swamped at the moment or dont have it fully automated just yet?

Apologies if this has been answered, there are so many threads about VS AMEX! All I'm seeking confirmation on is whether or not the miles earned figure on our statements relates to the exact list of expenditures on a given statement?
As has been mentioned on many a thread, with the old MC it was a case of the miles awarded never quite tallying with the statement as, for some reason, MBNA tended to exclude the last few transactions from their calculation, but then caught up by applying them the following month.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, the new pattern seems to be that MBNA pass the miles awards to FC at the start of the following month (ie. we all got our Sep miles on 2nd Oct) I would hope that, at last, the miles awarded relate exactly to a given statement? My October statement has just been issued, so dumped it into Excel and applied the x4 rule to each transaction (x2 for MC transactions which I used a fair bit in USA recently) and the figure does not tally, my figure is too low! I then tried applying the *4 formula to the MC transactions, so increasing my figure and it's now pretty close to the figure on my statement, still too low though. Could they have forgotten that MC transactions only qualify for x2?
We're dealing with basic arithmetic here, why can't we simply take the items on a statement, apply the x4/x2 rule and get an answer that tallies with MBNA's [:?]

The number of miles will always be slightly lower than you expect as you only get miles for each whole pound you spend. So a £9.99 transaction gets you 18 miles on the White (2x spend) card & 36 miles on the Black (4x spend) card.

Thanks for that, the thing is though that even without rounding down and applying the x4 (or x2 for MC transactions) the MBNA figure shows as more! If I round down the gap widens [:?] Is there anyone out there who has successfully got a spot on tally with MBNA's figure?

The cut off period for the statement and the period of expenditure converted to miles are usually not the same, so items showing at the end of a June statement may not have the miles credited/calculated until July. I found this out with the old MC. With this in mind its hard to calculate what you will get exactly, so if its 500 miles out or less i tend to leave it and wait and see if i get more than i should have next month.
Thanks,
Sarah

From what people have been saying on here, most people are finding that they are now the same. They do seem to match for me since the move to Amex.

Just to add my experience to this - my statement amount and miles earned have always been the same with the VS Amex, so whatever is on the statement I have got miles for. It does get a bit confusing when you have the extra miles like when spending with VS for example but never have I had it wrong yet.

Ah well, all the time MBNA's system is working in my favour I'm not going to grumble:) For my own sanity (only as Neil was saying his miles come out spot on!!) I had to double check!! >>
Miles earned as per Oct MBNA statement = 13,179.40
My calculation (rounding down each transaction as per advice in threads & applying the x2 rule for MC transactions) = 12,846
My calculation (no rounding down and ignoring the x2 for MC, ie applying x4 for MC transactions) = 13,192.64
So I get a near spot on tally if I don't round down each transaction and if I give myself the full AMEX entitlement (x4 miles) for MC transactions [:?]
Also dumped Sept statement into excel and did the same. Again, a near spot on tally if I don't round down and ignore the x2 rule for MC transactions.
Next month will be simpler, as MBNA have just this week written to me saying my MC has been terminated - so our weekly Ocado shopping bill will have now have to go on VISA (as Ocado don't take AMEX)
