Just got an email from Airline Network with a holiday to New York offer for £999 with
a new airline - Silverjet as a "launch offer".
Now, unlike MaxJet or Eos, this is the first I've ever heard of them, pre-launch. Anyone got any info? [:?]

Oooh - just found out (it's VERY hard to see anywhere on the booking stages) that they fly from Luton.
I do like the ideas they have for "add-ons" though...
Silverjet makes getting to and from the airport quick and painless. We offer a variety of transfer options from which to choose. Please tick any option from the list that you'd like more information and we will be in touch closer to your departure date to discuss your requirements.
Helicopter transfer
Discover more about our helicopter transfer options to and/or from London Luton and Newark Airports.
Chauffeur drive
Find out more about our convenient pick up and collection service to and/or from London Luton and Newark Airports.
Valet parking
Learn about how we can take care of parking your car for you when you arrive at our terminals.
Quite like the promises they make, too.[y]

Yeah, am sure I read about this new startup in a newspaper at the weekend - can't remember which paper though [:I]
£799 to New York from 25/01/07-31/03/07, cancellation & change fees plainly displayed on fare choices - looks like another good service

Cheers
Michael

Interesting find, currently only flying Luton to Newark but planning to introduce other long haul routes, flying 767's. They have a lounge at Luton "...away from the main terminal building..." and you may check-in in the lounge.

Sounds very interesting, though they say the lounge doesn't have all the usual facilities as you shouldn't be there long. Not sure i'd want to risk getting to Luton with 30 mins to spare, I'd plan at least 90 mins of airport time, just in case there's any delays. Still, at least you won't have to sit with the Easyjet customers [:p]
Look forward to seeing some pics of the cabin layout.

Interestingly, there is no discount for infant tickets. Bad news for those with youngsters, but great news for those who relish the thought of flights without screaming kids.

Have they commenced flying yet? No internal cabin shots which is surprising if they have started.

The best part is that they fly to EWR!

I wrote the entire Wikipedia article on it, so go take a gander. As of now they're going to begin flights at the end of January. You can book flights from LTN now, but not from EWR. Apparently they're going to have their own lounge at EWR, so I wonder what that will be like.

A former colleague (CX not VS) is their head of sales.
Will be interesting to see how they compete being the third entrant to this market.

and it looks like that £799 offer includes the helicopter transfer!!

Does it really include the heli transfer?
If so, that is an amazing price. I have started learning to fly those things and even in the "cheapo" R22 trainers it is around £250 an hour. And you wouldn't get any luggage in there so I guess they must use a more expensive turbine heli.

[:?] If I try a booking it offers "Transport Options (At an additional cost)" and the main site says "Register your interest for this service while booking online and we will contact you to confirm arrangements and take payment. If you have already booked your flight then visit "Manage my bookings" for further details."

Ohh, guess I'd better read the small print more clearly then... Still, a great service to offer!

At the start of October they brought the UK charter carrier Flyjet- who had been operating from MAN and LGW- and their sister company called Skylease or something like that.
It looks like the 767 is coming from the one that has been destined for Flyjet. I am not sure if Flyjet are still flying or if they have been shut down with all its assets being directed into Silverjet.

Saw a good advert for EOS in the paper on Monday. They sold the seat as having 21 sq ft of space - something I've never thought of before[:?]

That's a marketing trick, though, there are so many combinations that it could be.

What do you mean by "so many combinations"?

Well, not quite, that would be 21 cubic feet, since it's volume.

I mean, it could have various combinations of length and width to make that 21 square feet: 7 x 3, 4.2 x 5, 2.625 x 6, etc. I admit though, any of those possible combinations sound pretty nice.

If the bed extends to 6.5 ft (per the website) then it must be 6.5 x 3.5 [?]

Any combination that makes up 21 sq ft sounds good, although I'd rather it be a multiple of 6-7 or so;)
