Can anyone give me some tips for some nice hotels in SFO and HNL. Always better to have some advice from people that have actually stayed there.

On the basis that when you're on honeymoon you want everything to be perfect I'd recommend the Four Seasons. It is pricier but in my experience everything, down to the detail, is perfect IMO.

For something fresher and more modern, I like the Hotel Vitale, especially if you can run to a bay view room or mini suite. Actually, if you look on Trip Advisor and the Vitale there's a good review by a recent honeymooning couple.

I haven't stayed, but have been in plenty of time to the Mandarin Oriental ...

The Ritz Carlton is very good in SFO,one of the best RC club lounges in the US.The Mandarin oriental in HNL is no longer run by MO,but anyhow don't touch it with a long pole it's the worst so called luxury hotel I have ever stayed at.I can't recommend the Hilton Hawaiian Village enough. I was amazed at what a good hotel it is for the price. Book an Alii tower room and you get a dedicated private check-in, a private pool for Alii guests, breakfast, afternoon tea and a free drinks hour and fantastic service. The Halekulani is supposed to be the best on Oahu but there is a lot of building work in it's vicinity never roomed here but have been in for a meal and the service wasnÕt sparkling.
On our next SFO trip we are at the Hilton San Francisco buts that because I am too tight to pay for the Ritz:D,next visit to HNL it's the HHV Alli tower,I will not consider anywhere else as long as it's standards are maintained.
