Warning - Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino

Ladies and gents

Having just spent a VERY sleepless night at the Monte Carlo, I wanted to warn everyone about the 24-hour construction site that surrounds the hotel to the north and west. The noise did reduce from about 1am - 5am, but never completely stopped. I was on floor 15 facing the I-15 (rear of the hotel) and although the rate was $40/night, I would seriously consider going somewhere else next time!

Cheers

P.S. Oh, and they've shut down their microbrewery....[:#]

Thanks for the warning... is it just the Monte Carlo that is affected?

We stayed at the Monte Carlo for a week earlier on this month. We've stayed there a few times before and were aware of the construction beforehand.
We were given a "quiet room" as I asked for, 18212, which was in the middle of the building facing towards the strip. Probably about as far away from the construction as you could get and it worked, we couldn't hear any building work.
We were in the Brewery for lunch and they said that day was their last day brewing. They told us they needed the land for the ongoing construction outside - they have 64 acres or something already and need that tiddly bit more? And they've dug up the pool area too .... and the self parking garage has already gone .... sounds very ominous for the future of the hotel we thought.

I think it's just the Monte Carlo that's affected - they're building on the site of the Boardwalk and (I think) the old helicopter ride/exotic car rentals site. I wasn't aware of the construction beforehand and the check-in clerk failed to mention it... If I had been staying more than one night I would have asked to be moved. I asked one of the barmen in the Brewhouse about the microbrwery closure - it might have been sour grapes but the way he put it, it sounded like an initiative to increase profits somehow. Apparently the construction is planned to last a year.

I think I'll pick a different hotel next time!

That construction is all part of a massive MGM city complex or someting similar I believe? it's gonna be huge.

Hi,

I thought there would be 4 hotels in that area once completed ( including a Grand Hyatt)

... and a Mandarin Oriental [y]

The development of the site for MGM City Centre project has been discussed in this thread at some length.
