Let's move this into the forum with all other maxjet/silverjet discussions for any further debate...
One thing going for them - lower rate of APD (only one class of service = £40 rather than £80 tax)

Tempted to try them for my March trip, but would be nice to see some pics of their cabins first.
It does concern me that if a plane goes tech, you can't just get on the next flight as easily, as it's the next day, but for the price, it's a lot more tempting than VS Upper Class.

I saw that pic, Peartree, but for a seat that goes flat, it looks like your head would be in the person behind's lap. Good for legroom though. [?]

I saw that offer in the paper and thought that it looked very tempting. I then remembered that I don't like cruises[:(]

The Seat is the same design as Virgin Atlantic's old seat , That when you put the seat into recline the seat cradle does not move only the seat does . So you don't go into the person space behind you and you don't sleep on the floor either . Skytrax has examples

peartree - didn't your "signature" yesterday say "Virgin Atlantic Crew"?
It now reads "Silverjet Crew"... [?]

Yes , I start my new Era with Silverjet on the 2nd of Jan 2007 .
And New york is the first route and then a 2nd daily flight followed by Bermuda .
And also ORD , DXB , JNB in due course .

The selection of planned routes looks interesting[:?] Lots of competition for VS there. I'd much prefer VS for night flights, but in the day Silverjet certainly looks good...
BTW, does Silverjet have AVOD?

So you're going to pick me up from home, and fly at a time that suits me, from an airport I want to fly from?
COOL! [y];)

Well I'm glad that the crew are divided by product, as it were, rather than process - I find that crew assigned to an area are usually better than those serving the whole cabin. Maybe because they have a lot more responsibility for the pax they're serving. (I apologise for the lack of structure on the last sentence[:I])

Have to say if I was in London and had to fly Business Class to New York I would be very tempted to try out Silverjet, as well as Maxjet and Eos.
Oh dear, VS is being outdone left right and centre...first it was in the economy on the B&S routes (First Choice, Thomsonfly) now in the PE (Maxjet) and the business class (Silverjet, Eos) markets hmmmmm [:?]

Quite a bit of the time Silverjet is much cheaper than PE, but this is reversed on other dates. So if you want a particular date, PE might be cheaper, but if you're flexible, Y7 can come out as a lot less.

Hello ,
As you all know I'm a ex-Virgin and I'm really excited to see
what the product will be like ,Most of the people are Ex BA/BA Franchise Crew a few Virgin Crew , I was shocked to see a few at my Interview .
But I promise to keep you all informed , I think for the fare $£$£ it's very good but I was reading Maxjet on skytrax and I hope silverjet does a better service . One thing on the side all the bosses are ex -British Airways Staff so you know the service will be a little/very conservative ( Which as Crew I like , Thats why I want to work for an all business class company ) and you will not see RED / BLUE in the Cabin

Have a Merry Christmas Everyone !!
So excited to get my hands on the product and tell you all [8D]

Apparently Silverjet will have a women only loo on board [?]
There's a nice little comparison of the three UK based business only airlines in this months Conde Nast Traveller. The next page features a double page ad for VS PE. [:?]

Well MaxiPad is based at Washington Dulles (Sterling, VA, United States)
EOS is in Purchase, NY 10577 which happens to be in the USA.
Maybe SilverSpoon is UK based.

Maxjet is a fair step up from PE.

Too many seats to be real First competition, it does look good though, but it's pricey compared to the other two.

Although it is a large cabin, I'd still say that the service is more like many airlines' F than biz.

Maxjet is far better than VS PE or BA WT+ 'cept maybe for the IFE which when your eating just get's in the way.
The only other concern I have with them is the amount of flight's that go tech, from New York or Washington this isn't to much of a problem, but from Vegas it could be a major pain.
Maxjet does have an interline agreement with VS, but out of Vegas with VS having only one flight a day chances are you would be put in Y which just can't be a good substitution.
Silverjet is UK based, but again it's not LHR/LGW based, this could be a blessing or a hindrance.

For me, STD is far less convenient, doubling the travel time, so its a hindrance if I was ever to use Silverjet.
