V-Flyer

Hey Folks

Well, I've started recieving the emails from flybe saying I need to pay up the extra tax but I havent recieved anything from AA or Continental (who i have flights with in feb and march). Do you think i should contact them about paying up or should I wait for them to contact me??

It is my general belief that you should not offer to give companies money until the pull it out of my tight, clammy hands.

Therefore wait till they demand it.

I believe I read in a topic on this site that Airlines would likely absorb the cost initially. Probably because the admin costs would be higher than collecting the tax. However, I guess loco's such as flybe probably couldn't afford to do this!
As has been mentioned before, the whole thing is a farce and I'm sure the airlines are lobbying hard that the additional tax should only be applied to new purchase tickets and not retrospectively.

I generally agree with "the miserly one's" principle of not paying till asked. However in this instance, seeing as the penalty of making the wrong decision could be denied boarding, I would sound a note of caution - See Here

Some companies, such as Ryanair, are considering just taking it without asking. They will just take it off your credit card as they already have the details, and it's perfectly legal it seems for them to do this.

Flybe told me I had until 7 dys before the flight was due to leave, if I didnt I would be allowed to board the plane. Nice.

A friend booked flights through trailfinders to canada and they have absorded the rise... wonder if expedia will do the same for me?!
