Has anyone used Priceline to book a room in Gatwick, I am thinking of giving it a go but wondering what type of hotels they offer?
Cheers

OK I decided to give it a Bash.
Bidded for 4 star at £51 and got rejected so altered bid to £52 for 3*
Held my breath for the second time and I got the Gatwick Hilton for £52.
Considering the midweek price of this hotel on Hiltons web site is £132 I think I have got a bargin!![}:)]
OK so I probably will not get any Hhonors points but that price who cares!

I've had some great hotels via Priceline even though I have had to modify my address to a US one (I've used the US site) I got the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco for $75 a night and the Hyatt Regency at SFO for $45. The big difficulty is that you cannot choose your hotel but with judicious use of the Bidding for Travel website I have by and large managed to get what I wanted.
Congrats on the LGW Hilton. That is a great result [^]

You may well find that you DO get Honors points, Hilton seems to be pretty generous in this, same goes for Hyatt, Starwood..well they are Starwood [:#]

Repeating what Honey Lamb said, particulary in San Francisco I've got some great Priceline deals.
£40 for the Park Hyatt and a bit less for the Argent, both very good rooms, in particular the Argent...
London, on the other hand there's always a couple of hotels I really wouldn't want to spend my (discounted) money on so generally avoid.

Just out of interest - is there any difference in price using either the US or UK version of Priceline?

Don't think so (from my limited experience), since you bid in local currency... I'm sure Dave will be along soon to correct me.

Don't think so. I use the US version because it's easier to create a zip code than a post code and also I find it easier to convert dollars to euros than sterling to euros.
