This is very interesting. I would imagine that VH are watching this one very closely.

It has long been suggested that FCA and MYT would merge or MYT would sell long haul to FCA and MYT would get FCA's short haul.

Now left with FCA looking for a partner to merge with. Monarch being crushed well and trully. And Excel working out what to do.

Rumours already doing the rounds are, closer alliance between VH and FCA especially if FCA/Kuoni link up happens. Monarch and Excel merging.

Monarch seem to be positioning themselves as a LCC short-haul and they have ordered Boeing 787s to replace their A300s on long-hauls, even though the A300s are mainly used on short-hauls.

Excel have rebranded themselves as XL Holidays and are looking to go it alone.

It will be interesting to see how all of this turns out.
