Anyone been, would you recommend it ?
Is there lots to see and do ?

We have a week off beginning of May, we have enough miles and there is reward seat availability [^] for the dates we want to go.

Have also found good rates for the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown (will earn me more miles [}:)]).

Thanks

We're going at the end of May. Some friends love it and rave about the city.

Ooooh and I just realised that if I use miles to book (Econ T class) I can use my 2 x VAA credit card Premium upgrade vouchers.

That's if they appear in my account within 10 days as promised by the chap at MBNA [ii] I ain't gonna hold my breath on that one.

I was there in feb (don't ever fly AA) it's nice, good comedy clubs etc but I'd choose san francisco first!

No plans to fly AA, I only ever fly VS longhaul if I can help it, hence Chicago.

Ahh, San Fran would also be my first choice, but been there already.

Here now - in O'Hare Airport (ORD), anyway [:I]

I like the place, I have to say (the city, that is, not the airport). I HATE the airport - sat in the lounge waiting for my 4 hour delayed connection... [n]

Shame it's not longer - the night life here's great.

the airport is a nightmare, it took me 2.5 hours to get through immigration because they only had 3 booths with immigration officers

You have chosen one of the top three cities in the US (NYC, SF and Chicago in my book [^]) to visit, and May is a lovely time to do so. Firstly, I hope you enjoy it hugely, Chicago is clean, friendly and jammed with stuff to do. Here's some snippets:

- take a river tour from the foot of the Wrigley Building, a great way to see all the architecture and the boat goes out on to the lake for a great city scape view

- head to the top of the Hancock Building (and have a lunch buffet in the Signature Room while you're there) for greatest views - if it's foggy go up, seeing the skyscrapers poke through the cloud is surreal, like a scene from Planet of the Apes ...

- comedy, blues, jazz - all three are well dealt with by many excellent clubs

- the Magnificent Mile runs through the centre of town and is lined with department stores and shops, otherwise head to State Street for shopping (and Marshall Fields)

- the Art Institute has a great collection, especially of the impressionists

- walk through Grant Park and visit Cloud Gate, it's amazing

- go into Lincoln Park, the zoo is fab!

- catch a game at Wrigley Field (if you can, Chicagoans are passionate!)

- go to the beach if it is hot!

- eat chocolate cheese at RJ Grunts [:0]

Do you know, I wrote Macy's first, then had one of those memory lapses and edited it ... doh!
